Hello,

Planning to go to big island. Married no kids, enjoy golf, pool plus renting car to visit around. Plan to stay in a 1 or 2 bedrooms premier

Which would be the most appropriate resort: king's land or HGVC beach resort. which one is the closest to the hotel?

thanks for your advices

Phil

Since you said pool, the Kingsland pool is great and not crowded. If points are an issue, get phase 2. I was just there last month for the 3rd time and we love it there. The pool at the other resort is pretty small although you could go to the Hilton pool at the hotel.

What's your tolerance for paying a cash fee to visit the Hilton Hotel? I think it is $80/day?

If I was going to Big Island with my family, I would stay at Kings Land -- great pool in its own right and Kings Land has free access to the Hilton Waikoloa hotel -- a terrific property and a tremendous pool complex (plus great views of the ocean). But if you are looking for a 1BR Premier or 2BR Premier, you will pay a lot for that room, points-wise.

If it was just Jonell and me, I would stay at Bay Club, because the rooms are so much nicer than Kings Land, but then I would pay the daily fee for the days that I wanted to go to the Hotel when we wanted pool time.

Again, the hotel is a fabulous property, and where I would much prefer to spend pool time versus at Kings Land. The hotel may be my favorite thing about the Big Island HGVC's. It's walkable from Bay Club if you're not lugging too much stuff.

Make sense?

Good luck and let us know what you do!

Best,

Greg

Since (you don't have kids AND only need a 1 bedroom) AND-IF (you don't care about a lazy river pool AND about using the hotel pool) THEN (use the Bay Club) at Waikoloa Beach Resort (WBR).

The Bay Club has:
1. 1 and 2 bedroom units (WBR only has 2-bdrm).
2. Old style rectangular pools (except the pool at the check-in bldg).
3. More adult oriented.
4. Share the same facilities as the WBR.
5. Nitely specials (food & drink) at the check-in building pool. The pool is different with the long walk-in, water fall, and raised hot-tub. Fun to have a drink and chat with others.

ELSE-IF you want (hotel pool access) AND/OR (the lazy-river) THEN (use King's Land) = (more points) AND (smaller units).

The Bay Club is closest to the hotel, followed by WBR, and then King's Land. There is a shuttle that goes around, but I never used it.

It really depends on what you're looking for

Here are some videos I found on youtube....

King's Land has the best pool & includes free use of the hotel pools.
If you prefer a luxury resort like the Grand Waikikian tower that you own, you'll probably prefer King's Land.

Waikoloa Beach resort has a great pool & includes free use of the hotel pools.
If you prefer a fancy resort like the Kalia tower at HHV without the high point structure of Kings Land, you'll probably prefer Waikoloa Beach Resort.

Bay Club offers the largest rooms and lanai's. Doesn't include free use of the hotel pools.
If you prefer bigger rooms like the Lagoon Tower at HHV compared to the other two towers at HHV then you'll probably prefer the Bay Club.

Phil -- I noticed that you are Elite level. One of the benefits of Elite is:

Access to Kings' Land Clubhouse while staying at Waikoloa Beach Resort or The Bay Club

I'm not sure if that means you have access to the King's Land pool complex, but if it does, it may change where you want to stay. I think The Bay Club units are the largest, and certainly have the largest lanai of all the resorts. It is probably worth a call to confirm what the Elite benefit entails.
