We are staying at our Marriott timeshare condo in Palm Desert and absolutely love it. We got a unit upstairs with a spectacular view over the golf course and mountain range plus we can see the snow-capped mountains of the San Gorgonio mountain range too. The two bedroom condos are very roomy and comfortable. I had never seen the lock-out unit before. It is much larger than I expected. I am sitting here waiting for our friends to arrive any moment.

Weather is perfect. Not too hot or cold but we should have taken summer clothes with us.

It was cold at home so we didn't think we would need them.

Service has been very friendly. We had a problem getting our Linksys' wireless card to work so management brought us a gismo to use which is wireless, fast and free by Wayport Wireless. They came to our condo at 10 PM at night to help install it and the phone company came the next day to check our line because I still wanted to be able to use dial-up connection too.

If you have any questions about this timeshare resort, please ask so I can get the answers before we leave next Sunday.

The desert is beautiful in March! We can hardly wait to return back again next year. :)

Emmy, Glad to hear you are there. We are returning in April. What building are you staying in. I like the sound of your view with the mountains. Are you planning on going out to the tennis tournament that starts on Friday in Indian Wells? The lock outs are nice and roomy. Great place for guests or kids until they figure out how to lock you out. Enjoy your stay.

We are leaving from KC on Friday and we will be staying in DSVII. We actually asked to stay in Jasmine Court this year. We investigated this area last year and the view was spectacular. Reviews of this area have been somewhat on the negative side but we are mainly going for the Pacific Life Open. I think people don't like the isolation. Not a problem for us and we don't use a lot of the areas amenities. I am hoping the units there have been updated. Last year was our first year as owners and we think this timeshare is fabulous. How does RCI rate this facility as a Silver Crown/RID.
That is a joke!!!! We have stayed in some Gold Crown dogs in the past so I just don't understand the ratings I guess.....

Chris, we are staying at building R. Last time, we stayed at building Q and we requested building Q, R or S. All of them have nice views but are far away from the clubhouse or any pools. Building N and O are next to the west pool.

By the way, our friends told us that we are looking at Mount San Jacinto and not at the San Gorgonio mountain range. They were keen hikers and have climbed over 100 peaks with the Sierra Club so they know.

They are owners here too but have never stayed here yet and are really impressed with the nice, roomy condos around the golf course. We all like the open space and far away views. They have always exchanged so far but will use it too next time as they like the desert and play golf. :) We converted them.

No, we are not going to watch the tennis tournament but we are going to see the Palm Springs Follies tomorrow. The men are going to have a beer instead as they prefer looking at younger women. ;)

Yes, we can see the Jasmine Court units across the golf course from here and they have a spectacular view too if the units are facing the same way as we do from here. Jasmine Court is separated from the Clubhouse or Villas I and II and have their own entrance as you can see from this map:

http://www.vacationlovers.net/palmsprings/marriott_desert_springs_resort_map.html

There is free transportation from the clubhouse to Jasmine Court. There is also a free shuttle bus that goes by all the Villas I and II to and from the clubhouse and the hotel. They run each half hour.

I don't know if the units are updated or not. They look different from the last time we were here. We were told that they are starting to refurnish (carpet, window coverings and upholstery) first in Villas II and it will be going on until 2009. The building here is scheduled for 2008 but it looks fine to us the way it is now.

I hope that your weather will be as nice as we are having today. :)

Hi Emmy,

Glad you are having a great time. You'll be happy to know your choice in Palm Desert properties appears to be the superior one, based on my experiences at Shadow Ridge. I've been in Fairfield Inns that had bigger rooms than the lockoffs there, and ours was stiinkyyy. One would think, if they are trying to sell us a week at the resort, they would do better than that. Sounds like staffing at your resort is superior too. I've been looking at MDS and your story confirms what I've seen. Have fun! :)

Marriott Desert Springs

FYI If you have a choice, try to stay at the older section, MDS I. Whether you rent or exchange, you will have use of the beautiful spa and separate spa pool at the adjacent Marriott Resort. Last time we were there, the daily cost was $25 per person to use those spa facilities. This is only included if you stay at MDS I as it was part of their original agreement with the resort, and they did not continue it with the later phases.

The fee is $28 per day now but will be waived when you have a service.
