Non-Timeshare All-Inclusives

A friend of mine received a very generous award recently ($1000) toward a vacation of her choosing. It must be used for a vacation or cruise but, aside from that, can be used in any way. She looked at short cruises but decided what she really wants is a vacation where she can sleep, "float" and relax and is inclined toward an all-inclusive resort where she can just relax and leave everything to someone else. Has anyone done this outside of timesharing and have a recommendation? She is actually a bit overwhelmed by the choices and variety. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance!

An all inclusive resort is only worth the difference in price if you are going to eat a lot and especially drink a lot. This is what you are paying for. Unless she is going to go by herself, $1000 isnt going to get her very much at an all inclusive.

An all inclusive such as Sandals will run in the area of $2000 per person per week. A bit less at Beaches or Breezes. You can get more for your money at all inclusives in Mexico than in the caribbean.

If she doesnt have the time or inclination to do the research her best bet is to speak to a travel agent for ideas.

Thanks for the input. She has done a lot of research - therein lies the problem. There are too many choices for her. She wasn't expecting the $1000 to pay for the trip only to offset the cost. I was just rather hoping that someone here might have had a really good experience that they could share. But you pegged it right with the eating/drinking and I suspect she is planning on doing plenty of both!
