I want to get an idea of which week/which Marriott resort has one acquired, through a Marriott accomodation Certificate. In particular, I am wondering if anyone has obtained a week in Hawaii, Aruba, or southern California through this mechanism?

I used mine last year for 2 bedroom in Aruba Surf the last week of September.
The one I got this year was used to book 2 bedroom at Grand Vista for President's day week in 2007. None of these are during flex exchange period. I am very happy with the result.

I used an accommodation certificate from an Ocean Watch deposit to exchange into Aruba Ocean Club (2 bedroom) for the third week of June 2006.

I had 2 of them and I used each for a 3BR. in Aruba Surf Club in March. :) :) Looking forward to getting away from Ottawa (Canada) winter for a couple weeks.

I got a flexchange for a 1 br at Aruba Surf for 4/15/06 at about 58 days out.

AC trades

We have been very successful in using the AC to just the places you mentioned. I think only one time out further than the 59 days - usually get something within the last two months. I know one was further out - 3 or 4 months.
One strategy is to book a room at the sometimes nearby Marriott Hotel (like in Aruba) with points, get the airfare locked in - then just keep watching - the closer to date of departure - the more interesting it gets, lots of different options appear if your schedule is flexible. In Hawaii, we have used an AC to stay at Ko Olina and the Kauai Beach Club. Also used one at the the last minute to go to Newport Beach (driving distance for us).

I just used our Manor Club AC to get Playa del Sol Grand • PYL in Mexico in January. Seems like a nice place, thought we have never been to Mexico. It's on the Pacific coast near Porta Vallorta (sp?). Anyone know anything about this place or the area?
We just came back from the Grand Mayan Nueavo Vallarta and also stayed 2 nights at the Villa Del Palmar Flamingos.....Playa Del Sol Grand is on the same stretch of beach at the Flamingos...this resorts looks really nice and the beaches are beautiful there...I am sure you will enjoy your stay.

Used AC for Aruba OC for off season early December. Received AC for Grande Ocean Gold week deposit.

Are there different AC's depending on what is deposited?

Gary . . . any concerns about safety or the drinking water during your stay in Mexico?
We did not have a problem drinking the water at the resorts.

2 bedroom shadow ridge

Got 2 bedroom shadow ridge for 3/19/06 with 1 bedroom AC

accomodation certificate

We just recently purchased our Marriott at myrtle beach and have noticed people talking about accomdation certificates, what are they?
Thanks
Karen

Karen,

An AC is a bonus week that Interval (the exchange company) gives you for depositing an in demand week. Sometimes you have to ask for the bonus week and not all week and all resorts qualify for the bonus week. You must deposit your week first and then make your trade request. This week is not a free week. If Interval gives you the week and then you do not use it, it cost you nothing. If you do trade it . . . you pay a fee for the exchange. If you book an efficency you pay $199, a booked one bedroom cost $250 and a three bedroom $299. At least those are the prices I remember. It's a way to get an extra week every year that Intervalis is offering a bonus for your resort in the season and week you have purchased. Karen

3 bedroom at Grand Vista in 2 weeks, Newport Coast the end of June, Disney Old key west twice.

Got a 2BR Shadow Ridge Thanksgiving week with an AC from Cypress Harbour 2005. Came in 60 days prior to checkin.

AC certificate

Had one from Aruba Ocean Club that we used to get a 2 bedroom at the surf club for the week before Christmas and then traded the week back into the surf club into a one bedroom at the surf club for the last week in January. Worked out very well.

We have gotten many choices from our AC. We recently got Disney's Boardwalk Villas for end of January....loved it. We got another for Aruba this May.

When I was searching, I noticed that each day there would be different offerings. So, you really have to give it some time. Also, last 60 days you can get anything if your lucky.

how are you getting these accommodation certs?

Anyone (else) who can expound on getting a successful week at a Hawaii Marriott, through a Marriott AC.

I've gotten Marriott Grand Vacations in Vegas for end of April this year, also Marriott Cyress Harbor in Orlando, then non Marriotts - The Ponds at Fox Hollow in the Berkshires, Mass and Pollard Brook in New Hampshire.

Grande Vista 3BR - summer
Manor Club 2BR - fall
Disney Old Key West - MLK week

I've seen Hawaii plenty of times with my ACs, but it is always either off season when my wife can't travel or within 60 days when I can't get good airfare. Aruba shows up all the time in off season.
