The dreaded inventory sheets

Back when we first started timesharing the welcome packet always contained those pesky inventory sheets, whether it was our home resorts or trades. In the last few years we have not seen them, thankfully. (how many teaspoons honey?) I wonder why, anyone else notice this?

I, too, have noticed that resorts requiring inventory sheets seem to be declining.

Probably because few people fill them out anyway. I know I never have the few times I have seen them.

I suspect many resorts found it less time consuming, and therefore less expensive, simply to replace missing / damaged items when reported than it was to check the inventory sheets.

we broke a glass at our last stay. Watching the cc bill to see if it's deducted and for how much! We meant to tell them at check-out but forgot. I think if we'd told them they'd wave it off. By not telling them, well, we'll see!!

I hate those stupid inventory sheets. We were at Grand Pacific Palisades last summer and they had them. Actually, they were missing a lot when we got there, including a chair! I think it would be nice to just have a sheet for accidental damage, ie the broken glass, not so you could be charged, but so they could replace it and I think the resort should do inventory, especially on things like chairs! To me it implies they expect us to be pilforing spoons or towels or something.

I still see inventory sheets in most of the resorts I visit.
some are the type that are filled out weekly and left on counter tops
but others are just included in the resort Information books found in units.

I kinda like these Inventory sheets just for the fact they make it clear to owners or exchangers what the unit are suppose to contain.
Housekeeping is normally responsible for checking these items when they are making the unit ready for the next guests.
If you as a guest find a discrepency however you are encourged to contact the front desk so items missed during the housekeeping check can be replaced.

I doubt you'll have much to worry about. MF's are collected to cover minor inconveniences or losses such as a broken glass here or there. It would be considered normal wear and tear. Now, if you got drunk or had a big fight and broke ALL of the glassware in the kitchen, not on accident but on purpose, that might be a different story. Much like the difference between accidental damage and intentional damage to your car for insurance purposes.

When we got hit for the dreaded Westgate "maintenance meeting," we just simply refused. Actually, the wife refused, I showed up alone and got chewed out and threatened (with the cost of ANY damage they might find to the unit we were in) by the representative (salesman).

I took offense and found the resort manager to complain and ask about this threat of financial ruin by their salesman. Also to notify her (I think it was a woman) that I had in fact filled out a small list of minor issues and that by refusing it, they may very well be giving up their right to attempt to collect from me anyway. That's when I was told it was a hollow threat because resorts collect MF's for minor accidental damage to the units.

Although there were a few minor and one major issue with the unit (soaker tub/shower installed improperly so that it leaked water whenever a shower was taken), we never heard a word from them.
