Before the June 1, 2003 change, the VIP award categories for a 6 night stay at a Hilton hotel worldwide excluding the highest hotel category (level 6) was 100,000 Hhonors points or approx 4,350 HGVC points (equivalent to a one bedroom platinum). The highest hotel category (level 6) was worth 150,000 HHonors or approx 6,525 HGVC points (equivalent to a two bedroom platinum).

Phyllis,

Thank you for starting this thread -- and interesting to see the annual changes.

Many timeshares -- not just HGVC -- appear to be going the Wyndham route and ramping fees aggressively against a captive ownership group. The mid 2000's didn't need ramping fees to sustain the Division Results as the sales results alone generated sufficient revenue growth, but if sales growth is moderating, now the fees appear to be the best option to achieve those growing revenues (while trying to sustain/grow revenues) -- it's a bummer to see, but it's the reality. We will see what the future holds.

Best,

Greg

Greg,

I did this as part of my overdue assignment to update the HGVC TUG Advice Page - http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198066

Along with my HGVC overview, I'm planning to include
(1) HGVC Fee History
(2) HGVC HHonors History
(3) HGVC Point Structure History - ** coming soon **
(4) My Personal Maintenance Fee History - http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179539

I'm hoping this information will help folks make an informed decision about HGVC (and timeshares in general).
