This was pictured on my list of home resorts when I first got my Shell, but there was no way to book it. Then, it magically went away for many months. Today, I got an email saying it is officially a Shell property (I don't know how many rooms) and we can begin online booking.

"Inn at the Park — Now a Shell Vacations Club Resort

Today, we’re very excited to announce that Inn at the Park, a popular SVC Collections property in San Diego, California, is now officially part of Shell Vacations Club! As such, the resort is now available to book online at shellvacationsclub.com or through SVC Member Services at 1-877-743-5510. As a Shell Vacations Club resort, you will also enjoy an increase in room availability - giving you more options to vacation when and where you want!

Originally built in 1926 as a hotel, Inn at the Park’s historic roots can still be seen in its boutique design. We’ve diligently worked to refurbish the resort while maintaining the history and elegance of the property. The resort features a combination of studio-, one- and two-bedroom suites, ranging from 525 to 1,000 square feet. Boasting 9-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, Inn at the Park features classic furnishings and is fully equipped with an assortment of modern amenities.

Located at the edge of Balboa Park West, this lively urban escape is just minutes away from many of San Diego’s most exciting and well-known attractions - making this resort the perfect place to experience the city’s charm.

Are you a Signature member? If so, you’ll enjoy on-site benefits during your stay at Inn at the Park including:

• Express check-out
• Late check-out, if available
• Free local calls
• Luggage Delivery Service (charges apply)
• Advanced Unit Upgrade "

I was just doing a cost comparison of booking via Shell vs. Worldmark. In Worldmark, all 52 weeks are red/platinum. In Shell, there are 3 seasons.

In a Platinum (per Shell) one bedroom, no balcony a week in Shell would be $1687.50 in my MFs and for the same in Worldmark, I would pay $910.00 in MFs.

A silver week (per Shell) for same would be $1350. for Shell and Worldmark would be same as above since it's all Red season with WM.

Shell is not the cheapest option for most areas, but I like it for nights I need on Kauai to get FF seats for odd-days. I also like Peacock Suites and The Donatello for Sun-Thur stays, because the stays are cheapest, and weekends are not desirable (for me) in California (too busy).

I wish I had a need to go to San Diego. I would like to try the resort, but as Presley says, WorldMark is cheaper, and I love my WM points. Cheap to use, if not for the ridiculous fees for Anaheim. I would love to stay at the Anaheim WorldMark, but the fees are a turnoff. I could stay weekdays at Peacock Suites cheaper than the fees WorldMark charges.

Interesting. Wonder if part of the WorldMark units just shifted to Shell or if this was other inventory.

Ans: Probably not. It appears it was Shell Inventory to Wyndham at some point in time.

Called the resort and talked to sales staff, a buyer can buy into either WorlMark or Shell vacation clubs. He was not sure if Wyndham Club Plus/Access could use their points to exchange into this resort.

Called Owner Care for Wyndham Club Plus/Access. This resort is on the Wyndham Club Pass list of resorts that will be available through that program to Wyndham Club Plus/Access owners. Do not know how many points will be needed for a price comparison between the three programs.

I don't remember how many units WM has there, but it isn't very many. I remember Ron posted it a while back either here or on WMowners. I think it was 20something. The Shell member site says it has 42 rooms. The Wyndham extra holidays shows 82 rooms.

BTW, I didn't look very much, but never found available dates in Shell or Wyndham extra holidays. It's not a place I'd ever stay, but was curious how much it is renting for on the Wyndham site.

I dont remember half of what ive posted, and I post twice as much as I should, but as I remember Worldmark got half of the building...It looks like the other half stayed with Shell

I really appreciate the info on cost, Shell vs Worldmark. I bought into Worldmark because mf is so cheap... It seems I was right. (even a broken clock is right twice a day)

Not to argue, but more a data point than anything else. I've been able to book Inn on the Park in the past. In fact, we had it booked for one week in February of this year, booked in back in mid-2013, then we had to cancel later because our plans changed.
