Travel on Easter Sunday

I can book either a Sat-Sat or Sun-Sun trip to Orlando next year. The returning Sun would be Easter. What are airports/airfares like the day before Easter and on Easter itself? I don't think that many people travel for Easter compared with Thanksgiving or Xmas, so maybe no effect?

Travel should be heavier on Easter than on the previous day. Many families will be completing a week's vacation that day, since kids in about 22 states will be completing Easter vacation on April 8 (Easter) or April 9.

Only about 11 states start school vacation on Easter weekend and most of those vacation periods include Good Friday (April 6), meaning that those families might well start travel before Saturday. (There is some duplication in the state tally, because some states have varying vacation periods, at local option.)

As for airfares, I think you'll find the fares to be about the same for both days as long as you get your tickets before Thanksgiving or thereabouts. Although it's too early to reserve for next Easter, you can test fares for your specific routing by sampling fares (as an example) for various dates for the year-end holidays.

I know MANY states will end their spring break on Easter weekend in 2007. I have found that both Saturday and Sunday (and Monday) that end the first full week in April are VERY busy EVERY year, whether or not Easter is in the mix. (29 years of teaching and trying to vacation the first full week of April!)

As a former math teacher (30.33 years) and married to a elementary teacher in her 35th and final year, we are going to FL for Spring Break in Daytona Beach from April 8-16, 2006. I found that booking early was the best option. We are flying on AA in and our of JAX. Price for two tickets CMH-STL-JAX-STL-CMH cost us about $150 pp ($299.60 total) when we bought them in November. Now it looks like the same trip is about $360 pp. On top of that, the flights are almost full so maybe a bump is in our future. I hope so, she also has Easter Monday (4/17) off also. :D
