I advertised my free Harborside Timeshare on Tug's bargain forum and Redweek and I have someone interested in it. Now what? I need help with specifically what the process is to transfer the deed. Do I need a Bahama attorney? I will be going to Harborside the end of October, would I be able to conduct the transfer while I'm there or at least meet with Harborside management concerning it?

I used the timeshare closing process offered by Redweek to complete my transaction. Since yours is located in the the Bahamas, there are special rules that apply, but a reputable closing agent should know this. Personally, I'd ask for a quote from Redweek.

Of course, this comes at a cost (e.g. my very simple one was $300 + $175 for optional title insurance) and who bears this cost should be negotiated ahead of time.

Harborside transaction

I own many many weeks at Harborside. Best title company to these transfers is PCS title:

924 West Colonial Drive
Orlando, FL 32804
(407) 447-9100 ext. 104 or (407) 373-7457 (DID)
Direct Fax: (321) 281-6009
Fax: (407) 373-7465

THey will quote you a rate and they will deal with the lawyer in the Bahamas and will include everything in their quote. Tell them that you are giving away your timeshare and see if they may give you a break. Ask for Dave.

Just for reference and so the OP isn't shocked, what is a ball park figure for a regular closing/transfer through PCS for Harborside?

PCS charges $1,325.00. In addition to that, there is a stamp tax of 4% of the purchase price with a minimum of $200.00. Also, there is a recording fee of $40.00 and a transfer fee from Starwood of $25.00. Thus, the minimum closing cost will be $1,590.00.

Thank you for the info. Since the 'buyer" will be paying for closing/transfer fees should I have him contact PCS or should I?

Since similar weeks sell on eBay with the "buyers" paying less than the transfer cost and you want the week gone, I would do as much of the work in contacting the closing company and setting everything up to make it as easy as possible for the new owner. The closing company will need info from both the buyer and seller usually including a copy of the current deed. What you don't want is for the buyer to walk away and for you to have to start all over again.
