I am interested in several Marriott timeshares. Is there any reason not to be sent a sales proposal for them by Marriott?

Does sitting thru a developers sales presentation increase the chance they will execise ROFR if you later buy resale?

Thanks for your feedback.

I really doubt it as they are really separate departments.

I am told by a broker who seems very knowledgeable about the Marriott system that the sales function is local and has no interface with the rofr function, which is centralized. I sat through a presentation at Mountainside, was told that the resort was sold out of platinum weeks (salesman tried to sell me on platinum plus), put my name on a waiting list, went home and discovered TUG and the resale market, and recently purchased three platinum weeks, resale. Rofr was not exercised. Seems consistent with broker's information.

No there is no reason not to get some info from marriott sales. They'll send you a nice package of info and you're at no obligation to do anything. If you then choose to buy resale, having this info just makes you a more informed buyer.

Good Luck

Marriott will gladly send you a sales proposal on any of their properties...I purchased my Grande Vista weeks this way. I found it best to deal with their corporate headquarters in Orlando. The sales representative I dealt with claimed she had greater flexability than on site sales personnel and could offer more enticing incentives to purchase (ex: when I purchased at Grande Vista I received tickets to Disney, round trip airline tickets for two, a free two day stay at the Grande Vista...this was in 2001.
