I just found out that my kids' AA Miles expired last year. Apparently I never signed them up for e-mail notification, and AA stopped doing notifications by mail, so I just didn't realize they would be expiring. There's nothing I can do at this point, according to AA, except pay money to have them reinstated. It's probably not worth it since there were only about 2,000 miles in each of their accounts and I would have to pay $80 per child.

Anyway, I'm bummed...just wanted to make sure you all check any possible expiring miles for you and your families!!

We just had some credits elsewhere expire because we weren't tracking them diligently. In this day and age of so many things to do and track a certain percentage of losses have to be accepted. There is absolutely no way to be 100% efficient. That era was long ago.

Two thousand lost points can easily be recouped if and when your children fly more often.

I'm a bigger bozo, I had 16k expire last year. Thanks for letting me know I may be able to get them back.
