We are traveling to Nuevo Vallarta in two weeks and are staying A-I. We would like to plan a trip, or two, off of the Resort and would like suggestions for something that is suitable for four (4) people, young at heart but in our mid 60's. We can not do what we did at age 30 but still enjoy an evening of music, good food and lots of laughs. We were thinking of the Rhythms of the Night tour to Las Caletas but I also understand there is another trip there during the daytime. Please.................what are your thoughts!

Rythyms Of The Night

My wife and I are both 60 and we did The Rythyms Of The Night trip and enjoyed it. The trip across the bay leaves shortly before sunset and by the time you arrive at Las Caletas it is totally dark. On the trip over they serve some decent appetizers and there is a full open bar on the boat both ways (all custom made drinks). Wine, beer and after dinner drinks are served on shore. The entire venue is lit by torches and candles and the stage/dance show is in the woods in a natural amphitheater. The show was quite interesting. Dinner was served buffet style and was average quality, but it's hard to beat the setting: candle lit, feet in the sand and the water gently lapping at the shore about five feet from the table.

I would highly recommend this trip.

BTW we did it on Valentines day last year and I made the plans without telling her in advance. Talk about earning major points ;)

we have done both the day and the night trips.. both a lot of fun. The night one was a lot of fun the show and dinner were really good. The daytime one was nice...it was a relaxing day on a really nice island/beach I don't believe there was entertainment in the day (It's been a while since we went).

My wife and I have also been on both the Rythyms of the Night and the day trip to Caletas. The evening trip, IMHO, is much better. Great food, wonderful ambiance and the show was entertaining. As always when eating out, pay attention to the food. Our friend had the chicken, which was under cooked and he got food poisoning from it. He was sick for three days!

The day trip is great, however, I would recommend just taking the water taxi from the pier at Playa Los Muertos to Yelapa or Quimixto if you are going to do something like the day trip. It is less touristy and more authentic. The cost is significantly less, if you're willing to barter with the natives.

Email us if you want information on how to put together your own simple adventures and avoid the beach hawkers.

I have one more question ~ please ~ when you go to these places in the evening/night is it buggy? Do we need to carry bug spray with us?? Please let me know as we are leaving soon.

Thanks For Your Thoughts Everyone.:)

Our group of 5 went to the evening event, Rythyms of the Night and had a great time...good food, drinks, evening cruise. I say "Go for It". Pat

We were there in dry season and had no problems with bugs. It starts to get a little rainier now so it probably would be a good idea to have the spray with you.

Have fun.

Many thanks for your help. Will take the bug spray, just in case.
