We need to stayat a hotel near Regan airport for one night, any ideas ?. Our plan is to tour D.C. and then travel to our time share in Williamsburg. Thanks

There should be numerous hotels in the Crystal City area which is about a 5 minute drive from DCA and then you can use the subway for exploring. You can likely get a decent price for a room thru Priceline.

Agree w/the Crystal City area. Lots of hotels, restaurants, etc. near the Metro stop. Check out this Crystal City Metro Stop area map and you can see several hotels and their relationship to the stop. There's a Ritz Carlton at Pentagon City Metro stop attached to the shopping mall there if you want some pampering.

We always try Embassy Suites first. We stayed at the Crystal City one last month and would recommend it.

If you don't need fancy, I've often heard good things about the Americana in Crystal City.

Old Town Alexandria has wonderful hotels which are either next to Metro or have a free shuttle. In Old Town you are in the middle of 250 years of history, lovely homes and fantastic restarurants.

We are just 10 minutes south of Crystal City, which is bascially a canyon of hotels, condos and office buildings. Alexandria is a vibrant place to visit. You can have the convenience of zipping into DC and the ambiance of an historic town.

Just my biased opinion.

Susan,
Can you recommend a hotel in Alexandria that is walking
distance to the metro? We love Alexandria as well-stayed
at the FF Alexandria twice but couldn't get in this year. We
still want to make our annual trip & are looking for a hotel.
It doesn't have to be fancy...

There is an Embassy Suites within easy walking distance and a Residence Inn by Marriott two longish blocks away. (The Hilton attached to the Fairfield is great, but pricey.) As I said before though, almost every hotel in Old Town has a free shuttle to Metro on call. Lower King Street also has much to offer -- the Radisson has great river views.

(No, I don't work for the city. Like most Alexandrians I am a rabid civic activist. We are truly an urban village and we love this city.)
