I'm planning on flying to Halifax for a week at the end of June. My plan was to fly out of Albany, NY which involves a change in Newark going both ways. I flew back from Vancouver to Albany last summer and had my luggage offloaded in Toronto so I could go through US customes before boarding my flight from there to Albany. My question is: will I go through customs in Newark coming back, or will they have customs leaving Halifax? I assume my run through Canadian customs on the way will be in Halifax. I'm just trying to figure how much time to leave between flights coming back. I damn near missed the connection in Toronto last summer, what with having to bus to another terminal, collecting my luggage, going through customs and re-checking the luggage for the second leg. The worst part was that the airline did not warn us of this and the only reason I didn't lose my luggage alltogether was my wife spotted it going around on the carousel as we passed through the terminal.
