Hilton Head Hotels
My inlaws are planning an August trip to Hilton Head. They are looking for hotels with a good ocean view. Any suggestions?
Thanks. |

Re: Hilton Head Hotels
I believe the Westin and the Marriott are the two top hotels, both with beachfront locations.

Re: Hilton Head Hotels
The Crowne plaza in Shipyard is also nice and many rooms have an ocean view. You would need to request that view upon booking the reservation.

The Westin is the best hotel on the island for sure, but it's expensive during high season. For a first experience, I think it's worth a few nights. We used to stay there because it was so nice, and the pools were so nice, but we realized our (back then)$2,500 weeks could be spent somewhere else, where AFTER the stay was over, the money wasn't thrown in the trash, so to speak. It's the age-old rent vs. ownership debate. That 3-year Westin habit is literally what caused me to rethink things, and to pull into the Marriott Grande Ocean sales office one Sunday afternoon and knock on the door, begging for a tour, just after checking out of the Westin----I was looking for somewhere better and cheaper to stay.... not that GO is cheap, but it began a wonderful timeshare education and experience---I'd never heard of such before. The sales rep gave us a quick 5+ pm tour (after his hours), without a reservation, and then we sat down...... he tried to get me to "just try" a bronze week purchase. I looked him straight in the eye and said, "Sorry, but I want one gold week and one platinum oceanfront week". He almost fell outta the chair, and to this day laughs about it. We went on to buy some more weeks in addition later. My kids were then 6 & 9 (it's been 10 years), so the years since then have been "where they've grown up", basically, and believe me, they adore Grande Ocean. It truly was the best thing we ever did. It took us all over the world (via occasional trades and incentive points at buying), and to many places across the USA which we never would have visited. In June, we're headed back again for a 3-consecutive-week vacation, with my son joining us after finishing his freshman year in college, and he can't wait to get his toes in the sand. Neither can the rest of us. Sorry to ramble, but it happens.......*******anyway, they'll like the Westin Hotel
---it's huge , has a great set of restaurants and pools, and the beach there is very nice. Most high floors do have a beach view---and they have a fantastic seafood buffet every nite in the Carolina Cafe (also a great breakfast). http://specialoffers.starwoodhotels....4 2006_NAD_FM.
