Shawnee post Fairfield?
I am in the process of buying a week in Shawnee (River Village 1) , I'm pretty happy about it, and hope some of the old time Shawnee owners can help me with a few questions:
1) Is there a Shawnee owners bulletin board? 2) Has there been any official mention of special assessments/maintenance fee increases in the wake of Fairfield taking over? 3) Does anyone ever rent their weeks out? If so, who do you use, what kind of success have you had, and how much do you see after the company takes their cut? 4) Are there any RV1 owners who would be kind enough to send me a copy of old newsletters? 5) Has anyone taken advantage of “day use”? How does that work? Do you get any discounts (ie skiing) if you come up when it isn’t your week? 6) Is there a map of Shawnee/RV1 that shows where the units are? 7) Has anyone stayed in a RV1 unit recently? I see RV2 reviews in the reviews section, but no RV1 8) What would you say are the "busiest/most popular" weeks at Shawnee Thanks for any help you can provide. Jeff |

Re: Shawnee post Fairfield?
Summer weeks are popular especially the 2 weeks in June and July when the NASCAR races are held.

Re: Shawnee post Fairfield?
Owners website:
http://www.shawneeowners.com/ Winter acivities include the ski and winter activities section. Day pass use was permitted...and maybe still is until FF reads this. Owners at any of the Shawnee sections were able to use the faciities (except the ice skating rink...which closed after Ivan) on a day pass use. You would register at recreation... Until about 3 years ago, the Shawnee Inn (RCI # 1) was included as an ownership (actually RTU) section....and that RTU ended for nearly all leasees....however, you can still use many of the facilities at the Inn. Golf and ski will be discounted to owners, the shows in the Playhouse are also discounted TO ALL (INCLUDING TRADE INs), but the main area of usage now is the rec center, not the Inn. The different 'villages' are (or were) connected via a Shawnee Shuttle. I'm using the not sure mode, because I don't know how much Fairfield may have changed things over the past few months. I think that may also be why you have not recieved many responses here....things may have changed with the new management company. |

Rental ads placed at www.Redweek.com and www.MyResortNetwork.com receive a lot of exposure and have been successful for many TUG members.

Re: Shawnee post Fairfield?
I am a former owner at Shawnee Ridgetop. We generally exchange into Shawnee every year. I noticed that during our recent stay at Ridgetop back in February, there was no inventory required to be done of the unit after check-in. That is certainly a plus since we really dislike completing the form. Now, that's post Fairfield and I have no complaint about that. We also received a very nice welcome package full of goodies. So, so far so good.
