Resorts: Bluegreen Points Lake Condominiums at Big Sky Peppertree Atlantic Beach III Pacific Fantasy @ Pono Kai
Waterside by Spinnaker

I am headed to HHI Memorial Day week, and my elderly parents are going to join me, my husband, brother and two-year old daughter. My Mom broke her leg last year, and they live outside of New Orleans so this year has been especially rough! Anyway, I've rented her a scooter to get around on, so that should be fun. They were not able to give me a handicapped unit, so I have bought shower adapters, a chair for her to sit in to shower, etc. from a local supplier.

Does anyone know where unit #5715 is located? I know it's on the first floor, and I'm hoping that it's close to parking, etc. Also, does anyone know of a place on HHI that rents cribs? My daughter really needs a "real" one, as opposed to most timeshare portables.

Finally, I've read the TUG reviews and they are good, but has anyone been here recently? I gotta tell you, the office has been less than helpful, even downright rude, when I called them today for their help setting some of this up. So far I'm not impressed, and I'm hoping that the units are nicer than the people.

Thoughts?

Re: Waterside by Spinnaker

Sent Mom last year.

Some might consider her elderly = past 70, not too fast on her feet due to knee replacements and Lupus.

Office treated her great - cheerfully upgraded her (FREE) to a 2 br after my brother spent a horrible night on the sleeper sofa.

She thought the resort was quite nice. She's more into nature than resort activities so no info on that stuff, but she liked the unit plenty.

Holly,
I was just there last week, and we had a great time and great weather.

To answer some of your questions:
5715 is on the first floor, which is actually one floor up from the parking deck. All of the buildings (Numbered 1-7, and 5715 is in building 7) have parking underneath, with elevator access to all floors. Form the numbering scheme, I think "15" is a 3 BR, which means you will probably at the end of the building.

Building 7 is somewhat away from the main office, on the other side of a lagoon (which has a couple of alligators).

When I called the office, it is difficult to get through to Waterside, and I also found that the service was not consistent. At the resort, the folks were helpful, but we didn’t use then very much, as we had our own activities planned. But there are not a whole lot of activities at Waterside.

The units are excellent!! We were with folks that have been to many other resorts, and they all said that these were right near the top as to furnishings, layout, space, etc. The 3 BRs are BIG!

Some phone numbers to contact Waterside/Spinnaker:
• To reach you while you are there: (843) 341-4242
• Toll Free: (800) 497-7529

They have free local calls. Also, we had two units, but you cannot call directly between the units – have to call the operator to connect.

Waterside by Spinnaker--you will be fine! love the place!

you are on 1st floor (which is really 2nd FL, b/c parking is #1). But new, modern elevators right at parking. you are across (20 feet) small driveway from 2nd pool, which is the heated one. IT tends to be quiter, as well. Hot tub is by other pool, which is across bridge---but I took a stroller, so you could take a wheelchair. OR you could just dirve around the corner and park right at it. A 3 BR will have a separate shower stall in both the master and one smaller bathroom and maybe all 3 bathrooms. Units are all 1 level and fairly large.
We have traded here 2X and we were just there at Easter. Upkeep is very good. I think one of the nicer properties. They have a free shuttle to the beach--but it is a 12 passenger van---not a airport style shuttle, so you have to step up pretty high to get into it.

Re: Waterside by Spinnaker

We are headed to Waterside this coming Saturday - is it worth calling ahead to see which unit they have assigned for you? Is there a pool there that is only adults or quieter than the others?

We're really looking forward to going here - considering how much rain we've had in the past few days!

Thanks, Deb

pool by building 7 and 8 is heated

other pool is bigger, but not heated. In summer bigger pool is where kids usually go---but never loud and crazy, even during peak summer weeks. Hot tub is by main pool. bldg 7 and 8 are across a bridge over a lagoon--but it is a very compact property, so only 5 minute walk from any units to heated pool.

I called two weeks in advance - and they already had the unit assigned, and did not have much flexibiilty in changing it.

I think I have a resort layout pdf around somewhere, if anyone is interested I will track it down and email it.

A resort layout would be great, if it's not too much trouble. Thanks

Re: Waterside by Spinnaker

Here's one way to see a resort layout. The six green-topped buildings (three on each side of Waterside Drive - on the right side of the picture) constitute Waterside. Then if you scroll down to the lower right (following Avocet Road), you'll see the beach, which is about an 8-10 minute walk. (Use your pointer to drag the picture to see the area to the lower right.)
