Combining a stay at MC with Northern NY

We're looking for a nice resort in Northern New York to combine with a 10 day stay at the Manhatan Club. We can do 12 days a a single resort or 1 week at two different resorts. This is for March 2007 and the one thing we hope to do up north is some snowmobiling.

Any suggestions?

If it matters, it is my understanding that one cannot rent snowmobiles in the state of New York. You may have to move over to Vermont which would be a nice possibility.

If you're talking Winter Sports in Northern NY, you are talking Lake Placid.

My favorite Inn right in the village is the Northwoods:

It's right in town, walk to everything, an older Inn, a classy joint in it's better days 50 years ago, but very cozy, very period, and not too expensive. Several excellent and reasonable restaurants within a couple of blocks, and also in the Inn itself. I think SOME of their rooms have a kitchenette.

This outfit does snowmobile tours in Lake Placid:

Don't forget the cable car ride up Whiteface Mountain. It is spectacular.

If you get to Lake Placid, right on Mirror Lake is a cozy place to get a bite to eat called "The Cottage" decent food and great people (and ice cold beer)-ahhhhh! Even had cold one with the Mayor. Also don't miss the bobsled venue and atrip up to the top of the ski jump and also the elevator ride to the top of Whiteface. There is a combination ticket you can purchase that allows you to enter these areas. We loved Lake Placid!

Northern NY? Try the Berkshires instead.

Not much in the way of timeshares in Norther New York but South Western Mass. , the Berkshires, has many nice resorts and it is Just as close to New York City. Lots of wintersports in this area too.

It does matter, I'll have to check on this. If we can't rent I guess we would have to take a tour. If that's the case it'll be alright.

We got a week in North Creek (Gore Mountain) and we're gonna have to wait a couple weeks to get something in points for the second week. How is Lake George?

We are trying to do one Northern state or a Province at a time. The Berkshires are definetly on the list.
