Hotel for 1 night in Savannah by airport?

We will be staying one night in Savannah in July on our way back from HHI.Two adults and two teenage boys. I am wondering if anyone has some advice on where to stay that is not too far away from the airport. I am hoping to do some touring of Savannah while we are there. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Re: Hotel for 1 night in Savannah by airport?

We stayed at Marriott Riverwalk in Savannah. No, it is not near the airport. It is well located for taking hop-on/hop-off tour of the city as the trolley stops right in front of the hotel. It is also well located for walking along the riverfront. The staff at Marriott Riverwalk was pleasant. We were there just 24 hours and the staff always called me by name.

We rented a car at Savannah Airport -- what a pleasant airport. There are rocking chairs in one area. The airport is quiet and clean. We returned the car to the Savannah Amtrak station as we rode the train from Savannah to DC.

Enjoy your trip to HHI and Savannah. Savannah is a delightful historic city.

Re: Hotel for 1 night in Savannah by airport?

It would be fun to stay in the historic district or by the riverfront. Would the traffic be ok to drive in when we would need to get to the airport? We would be driving Saturday morning around 9:00 a.m. to the airport. I was thinking we just needed to be by the airport but I am not sure why if the traffic would be ok.

Haven't stayed there, but think of staying at a place that will shuttle you to the airport.

Even if you have a rental car you could drop it off and have the hotel shuttle pick you up, then to the airport when you fly out.

Getting to the airport from the historic district will not be a problem. Have a great trip. We live in Sun City HHI so e-mail us if you have further questions. We will be out of town until Tues.
