We just bought HGVC in Orlando (Tuscany) 3400 points, every other year and received 7000 bonus points and are having a bit of fear about whether this decision is right. Wondering how hard it is to get reservations, use RCI and wondering whether it would have been better to buy resale or to get a bargain deal here. Cost was $15000 (ish) with $806 MF even years.

Thoughts are appreciated. We're still within the 10 calendar day cooling off period and are considering backing out. I hope it's not awful to think this way.

the fact that you have doubts at all is the number one reason to rescind. you have all the time in the world to rescind and do your research until you are comfortable with a purchase (be it resale at a huge discount, or the original retail deal).

be lucky that you took the time to read up on it before your 10 days are up and you no longer have that choice.

this article will make you feel better =)

Is RCI included if we buy HGVC resale

Thanks TUGBrian! I'm looking at the resale marketplace and see one for sale at the same property for MUCH less. Do you know if RCI is always included if we were to buy an HGVC points package? How would we know that?

Will definitely be rescinding and doing our research.

not sure, im not a hilton owner and wouldnt want to confirm....but even if its not included the difference in resale costs would pay for an rci membership for many..many years!

id start reading up on the stickies and posts in the hilton forum, itll get you started and lead to even more questions =)

RCI

Sorry... one more question. Can you buy an RCI membership separate from owning a timeshare, or is it just for exchanging with existing timeshare members? The RCI part was really attractive.

Thanks again. Sorry if this is covered elsewhere.

RCI membership is separate from your ownership in a timeshare, although you do have to own a timeshare to get a new RCI membership.

if the discounted rentals that they offer were what appeals to you, you can access many of them thru RCIs public rental site...you also have the option of renting a timeshare from existing owners which is also a great alternative to owning yourself...as it comes with no obligations at all!

youll find endless information and options here on TUG, the more you read the more you will learn and discover whats best for you!

If you end up buying into HGVC resale, you'll have all the essential privileges of an HGVC member who bought directly from the developer, including access to RCI while you're an HGVC owner. Access to RCI is paid for by your annual club dues.

Read up on the HGVC FAQs and ask additional questions in the HGVC forum. Veterans there are quite helpful. It's a great system and perhaps the best of the big name clubs in how they treat resale members.

Welcome to TUG!

Sounds GREAT! I am so happy to have found you. Just getting my recission letter together and then looking for a comparable resale. I saw one here already and I'll check out the HGVC boards.

Thanks again!

I replied to your post on the HGVC thread, so I won't repeat what I said there, except to echo the advice to rescind, as quickly as possible!

Hi Kenchele,

You may want to look at Endless Vacation Rentals. I think it is owned by RCI?? It looks like they offer some of the same inventory and you don't have to own a timeshare to book vacations -
