United Cancelled flights to Cabo!!

I have arranged a trip to Cabo San Lucas from the Bay area (No.Cal)--we all got tickets on United/Ted. They just CANCELLED all their flights to Cabo, leaving us only with the option of higher priced seats or a layover on different airlines. No explanation or apologies. And, in my opinion--no excuses! These airlines really need to stop selling flights they are going to (even potentially) cancel!!

Re: United Cancelled flights to Cabo!!

What are the dates? (and I'm assuming it was a non-stop?)

Re: United Cancelled flights to Cabo!!

My question is the same. What are the dates?

UA still has flights scheduled to Cabo. For my samples, I successfully tried for Saturday dates in August and October.

And there might be some other alternatives you can work out with UA, such as flying through Denver.

Give us more info.

Re: United Cancelled flights to Cabo!!

This topic scared me initially since we have friends on United flt 1661 and flt 1660(nonstop SFO-SJD) joining us during Xmas break 2006.

I checked on Ted's website and the flight seems to indicate that it is as scheduled.

Did you get a call/email from United ?

More info. Yes--we got called (automated system). Haven't called back yet. We're flying from SFO--so no interest in going through Denver. The flights were in Sept--Spet. 24 through Oct. 1. I looked on their website, and it stated they don't fly to that destination (Cabo).

Re: United Cancelled flights to Cabo!!

The reason I asked about Denver is that rather than buy more expensive tickets on another airline, you can ask UA to fly you through Denver for the same fare you paid.

However, UA still flies to Cabo nonstop from SFO on Saturdays, at least into October. You can prove it by pretending to make a reservation at UA.com.

Re: United Cancelled flights to Cabo!!

Hi...they do have flights on the 23rd through the 30th of Sept...and if you're traveling to Coral Baja...they still have availability (in 1br and 2 br) on the 23rd so you could move your reservation up by one night and go on those dates. Good luck!

Re: United Cancelled flights to Cabo!!

You mean be flexible?! Thanks for reminding me of Coral Baja--did make back up reservations. We have to decide to change and fly early with United, or just cancel and take another flight. Can't check in early to the Timeshare. But, it would be fun to explore San Jose...so maybe we'll go early. When I called the airlines, they would have "protected" me if the tickets were made in February--but we made them in March, so have few options! Looks like they had PLANNED to not fly....little did we know! That's what just irritates me!!! There seems to be very little protection when you purchase a flight.
