Smile Best CC for Rental coverage in Spain

Will be renting vehicle in Spain. What Credit Card is the best to use for Collision/Theft protection for the rental.

Re: Best CC for Rental coverage in Spain

I just rentend a van in Spain. They automatically included all but excess charges which mean I was responsible for the first 595 dollars of damage. Since we went to small towns and drove thru very narrow streets, I left parts of that poor fiat van all over southern Spain. When I got back I notified amex that there would be a claim coming and they filed the paperwork over the phone and seemed very helpful. We will see if they pay it, but so far so good.

Too funny! Let us know how AMEX handled the claim.

Brings back memories. We rented a Mercedes Vito van while in Marbella...turbo diesel, 5-speed, "look-at-me blue", what a blast. But the poor tires would never be the same after navigating those narrow streets. There were times when we could reach out of both sides of the van and touch the buildings. My wife kept her eyes closed most of the time in the van. Parking was an adventure unto itself!!!!!!

Me too.

What was crazy was parking. The spaniards would park absolutle everywhere, drive around looking for a parking space while new parking garages were empty!! The rates at the garages were never more than a euro an hour.
