My recording device (or me the device setter) goofed and no 24. Just part of Prison Break. Could someone please tell me what happened on Monday? thanks,
Liz

Liz,

I can't help but I can commiserate. We have Replay and for some reason it also did not record the most recent episode of 24. :-(

Wasn't it because of President Bush's speech? Everything was thrown off with time. My husband is overseas and left me firm orders to tape 24 no matter what. I was struggling through trying to figure out when Prison Break was going to end and 24 begin after the speech.

Was that also the night of the Grey's Anatomy finale?

'24' started at 8:20 (CST) this past week. Everything was 20 minutes late...but it was a scheduled that way. Nothing caused the change at the last minute.

You need to get a TIVO...it 'knew' 24 was at 8:20 instead of 8:00 !!

I will do this in several short sentences. If I miss something, another Tugger will take up the cause.
1. Jack Bauer brought the recording implicating President Logan in the David Palmer assassination scheme back to CTU.
2. Miles Papazian, a slimeball at CTU, used some sort of erasing device to erase the contents of the recording, while Chloe was trying to "refine" the tape before turning it over to the US attourney general.
3. Secretary of Defense James Heller is alive.
4. Martha Logan and secret service agent Aaron Pierce escaped the presidential compound when Martha shot the secret service agent assigned to kill Pierce.
5. Since the tape was destroyed, CTU released Christopher Henderson to go to a bad guy's home in hopes of tapping into his computer. Bauer watches Henderson, intervenes, and they manage to get some data off the computer which suggests that Bierko, the Russian, who escaped while being transported, is using the last cannister of Centox gas to disable an American submarine in port. (Run on sentence- I'm too tired to rewrite)
6. The sub contains surface to surface(non-nuclear) missiles. Bierko has his men activate the missiles, preparing for an attack on an as yet unkown target.

That's what I remember. Whew. I'm exhausted.

Our Tivo was scheduled to start at 8:20, but in reality the show started at 8:00. So, we missed the first :20.

can someone please explain to me why Logan and his followers believe what they are doing is "for the good of the country"?

I was disappointed that Aaron called the President "Charles". Should have called him "Chuck"....

Wow, Dave. We practically live in the same area as you and our TIVO picked it up on time. I wonder what the difference is?

We're using a DIRECTV decoder/TIVO unit. Maybe the broadcast scheduals are from different sources?

I'm on the East coast, and my direct tv/tivo picked it up at the correct time.
Now the big question is whether to watch the finale on Mon, or wait until Tues, and tivo through all the commericials.

Easy - I ALWAYS wait until I can watch it on the Tivo without commercials.

It's funny - occasionally at work someone will forget I watch everything via Tivo and start to ask me, "Hey, have you seen that new commercial for... oh.. never mind." It's funny how much more product placement is going on due to all the DVR's out there. There was almost an Acura "commercial" in the middle of some show I watch (forget which one, there are far too many). Anyway, this lady hops in the Acura, they switch to a wide shot, like in a car commercial, then back into the cabin to show her use the voice assisted navigation system to get directions to where she needs to get to. Also, the comedy "The Office" frequently plugs the restaurant chain Chili's.

It is my understanding that whatever terrorism acts are being perpetrated are supposedly to be blamed on Arab nations. Then the US would have an excuse for doing a preemptive strike on Middle-Eastern, OIL PRODUCING nations, securing their oil for US use. Therefore, the people in charge of these acts could claim that seizing the oil was part of a plan to protect American interests, since we are so dependent on foreign oil. This scenario was explained once, or maybe twice on the show in past episodes. I'm not sure how the Russian terrorists' involvement folds into this situation. I may be leaving out some details. However, I don't think you find a total explanation in any of the synoses of previous shows.

I see, something similar to Hitler dressing his soldiers in Polish uniforms, sneaking them into Poland, having them then attack Germany, so he could go in and take over Poland.

We have a "big dish" C-Band and we get the network channels of the air broadcast towers. The TiVO is configured to get its premium scheduling from the DirectTV source and the network TiVO it connected to the internet so it gets schecule updated every hour or so (comes in real handy when your away and find something you want to record - connect to Yahoo TV and send a record request home). It looks like DirectTV does a better job of sending out last minute program changes - they can probably push put changes where standard TiVO boxes have to pull schecule changes.

BTW we'll usually sit down to watch something that we really care about to make sure that it is recording, get frustrated with the comercials and then find something usefull to do (like start packing for Hawaii in a few weeks :D) watch the rest later. It is really anoying when the fast forward button can't pass up the current time:bawl:

Interesting..our '24' didnt' start until 8:20...just as TIVO had it scheduled. Must've been different for different locations ?
