Southwest Boarding

Printed out our boarding passes this am. All 4 of us got "A" boarding. My other d. got "B" boarding. Probably because i booked her at a later date when she decided to come with us and they see her as a single traveler.

Hopefully with 2 of us in seats (d and gr d. and behind me and DH) there will be room for her to sit with one of us

Re: Southwest Boarding

You should be able to save her a set. They only have so many A group then it goes to B group. Since you had different reservation confirmation numbers, you had to go in an print boarding passes for the first group, then by the time you printed for the second group, they were out of A group, probably.

Thanks for the reply. I think we should be able to save her a seat also. If not, at least near us. Never flew SW before, always had assigned seats. Haven't flown for 9 yrs either.

Re: Southwest Boarding

They have three groups: A, B and C groups. On a lot of the SW flights that I have taken they start to line up early. You can get on 24 hours in advance of your flight and print boarding passes on your return flight, if you have a computer and printer with you or if they have one at the timeshare that you can use.

Re: Southwest Boarding

We will have my d's laptop but no printer. I think someone said the HGVC at Seaworld will print out the boarding passes for you. I would only need the return for us 4 since my other d. is going home earlier she won't care where she sits on her return.
I think my d and gr. d would get A boarding anyway since she has the lttle one with her (almost 5)

Coming home, we will probably not want to sit together. a week together may be pulling at each other's hair LOL Joking, the condo is big enough so after the parks they can do what they want. First trip with the girls since they were probably 14 and 16 (now 26 and 28) and first trip with gr. d.

Hubby's dream was to take little one to WDW. After all we're getting older 58 & 61

thanks

Re: Southwest Boarding

I am here now with my daughter and family. They have two boys, ages 5 & 3. Great Fun! We are about your age, it was easier with our children when we were younger, but it is fun with the kids. WDW brings out the best in all of us.

Re: Southwest Boarding

You don't have to have a printer with you to get the advance boarding pass. You *do* have to register for it 24 hours or less ahead, and then it will show the boarding pass to you for printing. If you don't have a printer, don't worry. You still get that "A" if that is what you are entitled to. You can get it printed at the airport...from a self-service kiosk in some places (Las Vegas is one) or by a reservation counter clerk.

Re: Southwest Boarding

Also, if your hotel doesn't have access for you to check in and print our your boarding pass, or if you don't have a computer with you, you can always go someplace like Kinko's. We've done this a few times.

I didn't know that. In other words, when we are ready to lv., Sat am go on to SW website and go to print boarding pass but don't print. It will automatically register us? As I said, never flew SW, always had assigned seats.
Then when we check in, just tell the clerk who handles our baggage etc that we registered on line, but not able to print out.

I tried to do this when we were in Santa Fe. Had access to a computer, but not a printer. I called Southwest to find out if we could check in and then print out the boarding pass when we got to the airport and keep our "A" status. I could NOT get a straight answer from the agent I talked to. Finally got so frustrated we decided to go to Kinko's.

When you check in, the easiest thing to do is to use the electronic kiosks. In fact, if you have etickets you'll be required to do so. You will only talk to someone after you've checked in and indicated how many bags you're checking. The agent will give you the baggage claim checks. I haven't checked in with Southwest recently but I "think" they have an option to print out the boarding pass during the check in process.

Speaking of Southwest boarding, I thought this article was interesting....

"Southwest Airlines acknowledged yesterday that it was considering abandoning its free-for-all boarding process and implementing assigned seating."

The article said they are "thinking" about it. My guess is after they study it they'll decide to keep things as they are. Aren't they doing better financially than most of the other airlines?

Re: Southwest Boarding

We are leaving tomorrow late afternoon. Staying at the Horizons by Marriott - Orlando. My daughter and son-in-law are great about keeping up with the kids. We only go every other day and spend the rest of the time at the resort. It is hard on us old folks. Guess that is why we have kids when we are young. The youngest is running a fever and if he doesn't get better soon, we will take him to have it checked out.

On Southwest going to assigned seats, the article I read, said that they were considering upgrading the software so that they could do it and if they did, the earliest would be 2008.

Re: Southwest Boarding

Go thru the check-in portion of the SW website just as if you have a printer but when you send the boarding pass to the printer, obviously nothing happens. When you get to the airport you just need to"reprint" the pass either at the check-in counter with a rep or at a self serve kiosk. I have done both several times with no problem.

Hope it's true. The boarding herds are why I avoid Southwest!!
