Chicago timeshares?

Joanne,
There are none that I know of, but lots of hotel choices. I wonder if at some point one of the major hotel chains will start one here. They have it in NY and Boston, so why not? I don't believe there is anything within 100 miles, however.

When we went to a sales pitch at the Fairfield in Atlantic City in February, the sales rep said Fairfield has plans to build timeshares in several big cities, including Chicago.

We had said we like to stay in cities, so she might have just been saying that to sell us on Fairfield, but...for what it's worth....

Does anyone know if there are timeshares in downtown Chicago? I haven't been able to locate any.

Thanks,

Joanne

I was going to ask the exact question today, you beat me to it.

It would be so nice to have some city timeshares.

Last week I was looking for one near Washington D.C., and the only one nearby is Fairfield. It does seems Fairfield has some in large cities.

I wonder if Worldmark has any in large cities?

Grand Geneva Vacation Club (a former Playboy facility) in Lake Geneva, WI might be within 100 miles and is pretty nice.

Silverleaf ,were Scott Luterno owns is about 35 to 45 miles west of Chicago. The other one in that state is by Genailna(forgive my spelling) and maybe is a part of worldmark.

I think Scott said he had day use privlivages at his resort.

Bruce :D

The two timeshares in Illinois are Silverleaf's Fox River Resort and one at
Galena which I believe is a Worldmark. Make no mistake, these are quite a way from Chicago. The one in Lake Geneva Wisconsin is also quite a drive, but you can pick up the commuter train in Harvard (it takes about 1 1/2 hours to get there). You can pick up the commuter train in Geneva for Fox River but it is going to take a good hour plus. If you are familiar with Silverleaf you know they never have anything in real urban settings. It's not a bad resort to go and relax but not a particularly good base for travel despite their protestations to the contrary.

Worldmark has resorts in Seattle, San Francisco and Vancouver B.C.

Thanks for all your responses. I usually stay at a fairly inexpensive (for Chicgao) hotel on S. Michigan Avenue which is walking distance to Soldier Field (for Da Bears' games), but thought I might stay longer this year and was looking for a timeshare.

But... I guess I'll keep to my 3 night schedule and book the hotel.

Unless there is a Bear's game, or Taste of Chicago, or whatever.

I think Chicago has an ordinance forbidding short term condo rentals; I don't know if that applies to timeshares too, but it might mean that RCI couldn't rent out a Chicago timeshare;)

When we visited Chicago we got a pretty good deal using FSP points for a hotel room.

Most world class cities, and I'd include Chicago as world class, don't have much in the way of downtown timeshares which is a shame. The Boston Custom House is a beauty in a great location, although only 1 bdrm with kitchenettes. The Paris Marriott timeshare is about 35 miles from downtown - nice, but out of the mainsteets areas. I guess that's why I've concentrated on hotels in cities like Paris, Rome, London, etc. And it's nice to be pampered on some holidays with room service, twice daily maid service, etc.
