What is the difference between an AC and a bonus week?

Just be careful. II uses Bonus week and Accomodation interchangeably, but if you have a "Bonus Week" ie your purchase incentive, don't use that Verbiage with II because they might get confused.
In fact, when you call II just tell them you want to use a week that you have on deposit.

I looked through the terms and conditions for II and there is no reference to the term "Bonus Week".

In the past, II has used the term "bonus week" interchangeably with "accommodation certificate".

Craig Urbine, II's former rep to the TUG BBS, often did so. Also, not too long ago, the online announcement that a high demand week was eligible for an extra week if deposited referred to a "bonus week" for that extra week.

And to quote Craig Urbine as to "what is an AC", he stated, "Accommodations Certificate a.k.a bonus week."

Dave M,
you and I are on the same page. AC and Bonus Week are synonymous. I was confused about the reference to a purchase incentive in the other poster's message.

OK, let me ask you experts an AC question: If I cashed in two AC's for the same week in the same place and am using one myself, do I still need that $39 thing for somebody else (in our party) to use the other villa? I am getting 2 villas at Ocean Point in December during the same week. I am assuming at this point that certificate is meant for somebody to use the week if I'm not going myself. True? Or do I have to pay the $39? Thanks.

I wouldn't pay for the GC. However, I would check in for the entire group, because the resort might not (shouldn't) allow someone else to check in for a unit that is in my name.

So either plan to check in for everyone or get the GC. (IMHO)

I have never had any problems calling the resort ahead of time and telling them I am bringing guests along for an additional unit, and the guests will be checking in.

The person I spoke to has taken their names and added them to the reservation, and then used their credit card for the security deposit.

Sorry,
When an owner purchases a new week, sometimes as an incentive they are given an II week. This is what I was referring to in that last sentence.

I received one when I bought from Marriott, but I didn't remember it being called a bonus week. They called it a free week. I guess it doesn't really matter. Everyone knows it's not the same as an AC. Sorry if I didn't get the point in your original post.

We also got one from Marriott, but they called it a "replacement" week, because it replaced the week they couldn't give us for occupancy because there wasn't enough room as sales were outpacing building at that juncture. IIRC, we used it to exchange back into the resort at Christmas that year (our first year of ownership). As we never deposited with II (used request-first), we never got any AC's.
