From the Thread below, it sounds like a Westin St. John's trade is rare if not impossible. What about trading to a Hyatt in California or other location?

Chris

I have traded my Canyon villas studio and AC for the 2 bedroom Hyatt High Sierra in Jan, Feb, and Oct.

The AC was used for a trade online within the 60 day period for the Feb week, but the studio was used to trade about 5 months out for the Oct & Jan weeks. Hyatt deposits weeks into II at about 6 months out max. I was told by the sales people (true?) at Hyatt Carmel that they haven't deposited any Carmel weeks into II for almost 2 years.

I would have to agree with the Hyatt Carmel statement, it is hard for Hyatt owners to get in unless you own a week at Carmel. The weeks at Carmel are offered to Hyatt owners first and you really have to go off-season. Or be prepared to wait until someone goofs and does not confirm their week. Hyatt does deposit into II up to one year in advance, but this is not always the most common pratice. It is between one year and 6 months.

Hyatt will choose the property and season they deposit into II. A Carmel deposited week (all the owner's points) may translate into a May week in Tahoe or an August week in Key West. Part of the paradox is that Hyatt owners use points vs. trade weeks. Most California owners probably use Carmel in 2,3 or 4 day periods vs. 7-night blocks. In addition, there are only 94 condos in Carmel vs. several hundred in a typical Marriott property. In addition, I doubt any of us will see much timeshare development on Pacific Coast Highway between Carmel and Big Sur.
