atlantic city FF Skyline safety/walking alone
I did a search on this issue and I still have a question. Staying at Fairfield skyline and wondering- is is safe to walk alone during the day? I will be arriving several hours before my daughter and wanted to find a small grocery (is there one??) nearby to grab a few things and a place for a late lunch. Posting seem to refer to the danger of walking alone at night, so I assume I will be ok. I leave tomorrow morning, so thanks for any advice you can give me. I am flying and taking the train from Philly so i really can't do the grocery run til I arrive. Thanks, Blondie

Blondie,
You should be safe walking alone during the day but I would suggest still being alert. Not sure where grocery store is located in AC. You may have to take a cab to someplace outside AC. Lots of places on the boardwalk for lunch. Keep your purse tightly under your arm when walking rhe boards. If I wasn't going on the TUG cruise I would try to meet up with you for lunch in AC. Maybe next time.

Re: atlantic city FF Skyline safety/walking alone
There is a supermarket on Atlantic Ave. about 6-8 blocks from the resort. Its quite a walk if you are carrying grocery.
During non-business hours, the streets are quiet. I walked to the supermarket one time on Sat morning around 7:00 am, there were bums on the street asking for money. If you are not comfortable, consider taking a taxi or the bus. The boardwalk is safer. Get direction from the resort. Walk along the boardwalk and turn up to the street where the supermarket is. For lunch, I suggest getting something to eat along the boardwalk. |

Re: atlantic city FF Skyline safety/walking alone
If you're talking about the horrifying IGA, I heard it closed. Blondie, it was disgusting and awful and frightening, and I'm not easily frightened! Personally, I would not walk around the interior of Atlantic City (that is, away from the boardwalk) alone, even in daylight. I doubt anything will really happen to you, but it will be unpleasant.
You might call the concierge at the Skyline and ask about groceries. I think there's a 7-11 and a CVS with a few things, but you need a car to get to a real grocery store. |

Thanks- all I really need are a few things so one of those may just do the trick!
