Cape Cod: Briarwood or Surfside?

I need to decide (fast) b/t a 2 bedroom at Briarwood and a 1 bedroom at Surfside. I realize Surfside is on the beach, but will four of us fit in there ok? And is that beach a nice beach, or will we end up going elsewhere anyway? Any further comments/input on either resort would be appreciated...

Thanks,
Avery

Re: Cape Cod: Briarwood or Surfside?

surfside is smaller, but it has a great beach overlooking Martha's Vineyard. our one bedroom had 2 baths and a jacuzzi in the bedroom. mini kitchen and guest will have to sleep on the pullout couch. I own at Briarwood, but would prefer surfside in the summer...better location, but less room for four people.

Re: Cape Cod: Briarwood or Surfside?

The units at Briarwood are very bright and spacious. They were originally built to be townhomes. They are two story units with two bedrooms upstairs--one with a queen size bed and the other with two twins. There is a convertible sofa in the living room. The full kitchen is a well stocked. Sliding doors off the living room open up to a large private back yard with bbq grill and patio. The yard is surrounded by a tall wooden fence which provides a lot of privacy. It is a short walk to the quaint/interesting town of Falmouth which has wonderful restaurants and shops.

You did not specify if the 4 people in your party are adults or children. But in any case I think the large size and two story structure of the units at Briarwood would provide more comfort. Only if you are beach "fanatics" and would be spending a lot of time on the beach might Surfside be a better choice.

Have a great vacation!

HA, I tend to agree, if one has the choice. Unfortunately this was released due to resistance at home...

I'm also evaluating the two. While Beach will be important, I wonder if one could compare the pool facilities?

Thanks!

The pool at Briarwood is small. I can't speak for Surfside.

SURFSIDE HAS AN INDOOR AND AN OUTDOOR POOL. I OWN AT BRIARWOOD, IT CAN'T COMPETE WITH SURFSIDE IN THE SUMMERTIME.

Re: Cape Cod: Briarwood or Surfside?

Surfside would definately be my choice. We stayed in Briarwood a few years ago and I would never go back . The unit was big BUT it was also dirty, furniture was stained and the so called back patio is a joke. It was very small and the yard was a hillside with nothing to look at but a wooden fence. I hated the place.

The units have undergone extensive refurbishment over the last two years. I've never found them to be dirty, even before the renovations. They are really nice. Most of the backyards are large and flat. I'm not sure what unit you stayed in.

We own 4 weeks at the Royal Resorts in Cancun, plus several other timeshares of comparable quality. Briarwood is an older resort w/o glitz but we have always found it to be a very pleasant, comfortable, family-oriented resort.
