I-95 overnight hotel stop

Can somebody recommend a hotel pretty much right off I-95 at Richmond or a town before? Not necessarily super cheap, but very clean. A Marriott affiliate would be desirable. Thank you!

Have you checked the Marriott website to see what's in that area?

Re: I-95 overnight hotel stop

There's a Marriott Courtyard in Chester, VA (maybe 12 - 15 miles south of Richmond) just off exit 61A of I-95 on West Hundred Road.

we stayed at fairfield suites in either emporia, va or roanoke rapids, nc--very nice!

suite was exactly like springhill suites--they had regular rooms for a bit less, also. The major towns are emporia and roanoke rapids---they are both south of Richmond--emporia is 1st, then roanoke rapids--not much north of richmond.
This was a newish FF inn and it was more like a springhill or courtyard in quality

Re: I-95 overnight hotel stop

We are leaving for Hilton Head Island on Saturday and will be staying in Emporia on the way down here:

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites
1350 WEST ATLANTIC STREET
EMPORIA, VA 23847
1-434-336-9999

The place looked decent with free breakfast and was around $100 for the nite.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation...

Whenever I travel I-95 in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, I always check this web site.

DIS Boards (www.wdwinfo.com) Driving to Florida page

It has gas, food, and lodging information for every exit up and down I-95 from Virginia to Florida.

Thank you for all the suggestions and the great web site. I had gone on the Marriott site but all directions were distance from the airport, not I-95. Now I have concrete info to work with.

Andrea-

I would suggest SpringHill Suites Richmond, Virginia Center Commons. It is a short drive from the exit off I-295. Right on RT 1 which parallels I-95. Fairly new having been built about 2-4 years ago. Never been inside since I live in the area. But in a fairly nice area of town with plently of shopping & restaurants within 2-3 blocks. Virginia Center Commons Mall is about 3 blocks away with a food court. Several chain restaurants near the mall and a Ukrops grocery store.

Thank you for the offer nerodog, but we're traveling with 5 kids so a B&B won't work.
