Resorts: Club Sunterra and a few others
Powhatan (and other Sunterra resorts) now has WiFi throughout

Friday, June 02, 2006
Wireless internet access now available at selected resorts
The following selected Club Sunterra Resorts are the very first to offer wireless internet access. With wireless internet you can connect your laptop to the internet as soon as you enter the resort so there is no need for annoying cables or wires. The Club Sunterra wireless internet enabled resorts are:

# Bent Creek Golf Resort
# Coconut Palms Beach
# Cypress Pointe
# Daytona Beach Regency
# Desert Paradise
# Grand Beach Vacation Resort
# Greensprings Plantation
# Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort
# Plantation at Fall Creek
# Powhatan Plantation
# Ridge on Sedona
# Scottsdale Links
# Scottsdale Villa Mirage
# Sedona Summit
# Villas de Santa Fe

These are just the first resorts in the implementation of wireless internet across our resorts worldwide.

Is this 'free' wireless access, or is it one of those offers that costs about $15-$20 per day? My resort at Atlantic Beach has wireless access if you want to pay a small fortune for the use.

7.95 per day; 21.95 for 3 days; 39.75 per week
but there is a 'free' zone in the lobby, so I'm told.

Re: Powhatan (and other Sunterra resorts) now has WiFi throughout

We just returned from a week at Sunterra's Plantation at Fall Creek Resort in Branson, and it worked just as Spence said. I took my laptop to the activities room and connected for free each day. There was also a desktop PC there that was available to those who wanted to use it.

Update to the update:

Prices at Cypress Pointe are different. $4.99 /day or $19.95/week. Also note that Cypress Pointe Grande Villas do not offer wireless access but now offers wired connection for the same price above. If you choose to use wireless in the Clubhouse you will not have unit access at Grande Villas. If you choose wired at GV then the wireless will not work in the Clubhouse/pool areas. They are two seperate systems.

Re: Powhatan (and other Sunterra resorts) now has WiFi throughout

Greensprings is the same price as Powhatan. When I called Greensprings to ask the price the front desk could not tell me, they could only give me the 800-374-5872 number to ITG networks. They gave me the same prices as Powhatan. My guess is that this outfit came in and financed/set up the WiFi and charges directly when you connect, maybe the resort then gets a cut
