Question Shore Crest Vacation Villas 1 vs. A Place at the Beach

I have both resorts on hold for a visit in a few weeks. Does anyone have any info. or recent experiences at either of these Myrtle Beach resorts (Place at the Beach RCI # 0823, Shore Crest RCI # 5304)??? It looks like both are oceanfront. We will be traveling with our children, so activities for them would be nice. Also, we have friends staying at the south end of Myrtle Beach and using mapquest it appears they will be 14 miles away. It says 28 minutes, but does anyone have a realistic driving time from the north to the south end in the middle of August?? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Shore Crest Vacation Villas 1 vs. A Place at the Beach

I haven't stayed at A Place at the Beach, but we spent Spring Break at Shore Crest VV this year. The condo was nice enough, but I was a bit disappointed in the "lazy river", which is only a small oval shape about 25 feet long. (Not much of a "river" in my opinion). Also, we decided to go bike riding on the beach and had to wait for the activities director to come back from the store (about 40 minutes) so we could get the bikes . . . and this was DURING thier posted operating hours. It was a bit frustrating. But, on the brighter side, the accommodations were nice. Good luck with your choice!

Re: Shore Crest Vacation Villas 1 vs. A Place at the Beach

First I would read TUG Resort Database Reviews to obtain a feel of how other Tuggers rate the two resorts. We have stayed at Shore Crest Vacation Villas I Resort and we liked the resort. Villas I have direct ocean views and some some side ocean views. It is located in N. Myrtle Beach. Master bedroom is a nice size. Villas I is located directly on the beach. Villas I has cover parking for automobiles. You are near several major shopping centers and some very good places to eat.

We have only viewed A Place at the Beach from the outside. It looks fine from the outside..
