Re: Cape Cod: Provincetown, which one is best?
Probably it depends on what you're looking for. We once stayed at Sandcastle and really enjoyed the fact that it was right on the beach, even though it's not a swimming beach. The unit was a reasonable size, fine for our (then) family of four -- and the pool area and bbqs were teriffic for us. It was not right downtown, which was a bonus for us, but was a quick drive or busride.
I can't compare it to the others, but I suspect that they have different pros and cons. HTH ~~~Steve |

I’ve also stayed at the Sandcastle; but given the choice between the 3, I would go with Harbor Hill. IIRC, that’s the only of one those 3 that was originally built as a timeshare. HH may not be on a beach, but it is in an excellent location. JMHO

Re: Cape Cod: Provincetown, which one is best?
thanks for the replies-Harbor Hill does look very nice and it is in a great location. Only minus and it is small is that it doesnt have a pool. My 7 year old loves to have a pool! Oh well!

Hi jamesy, HH is very very nice ... hard to get into I was told depending on the time of year. Have you thought maybe of Brewster Green ? It has a HUGE pool area and is a nice drive to P'Town... nice units etc... Sandcastles is right on the beach but not fancy..

Provincetown
Harbour Hill does not have pool so that would make it out for me. The way it is located would make a car important. My partner stayed there some time back and said that the condos were very nice and big.
We own an October week at the Sandcastle and just came back from a week we traded for. We love it there. We have a studio and the way it is laid out is very convenient and big enough for 4 as long as privacy is not an issue. There are one and two bedrooms also. The beach is not a real swimming beach because it is on the bay but at low tide the sandbars are great fun to walk on. Th P'town shuttle picks you right up on 6A and takes you to town in about 10 minutes. The National Sea Shore is about 10 minutes away by car or you can take the shuttle. The part we liked best about this place is the old fashioned at the beach feel. |

Jamesy,
There are distinct advantages of all three resorts mentioned. But unless you are into Points and know how many it would cost you to obtain a specific week/resort, you're lucky to obtain an exchange into any resort during red season, and white time as well. Here's a summary of what I think are the most important considerations: *Harbor Hill: Most comfortable resort in off-season. Distant and/or cozy views of woods/marsh/water/town. A couple units with private garages! NO onsite activities, only a seasonal hottub. You'll likely need to take a car/taxi into town for restraurants/shopping/etc. In-aseason, a short walk to the dunes and far end of Herring Cove Beach. Office very strict about parking + checkin times. My pick to stay at in winter but bring your own crowd & fun. This is the Cape's ONLY gold crown resort (listed for public's lowered expectations as silver crown). Most unpredictable office hours. *Eastwood: More physically comfortable than Sandcastle with its apartment style studio and 1-br timeshares. All units have A/C unlike the other 2 resorts, and has the only exercise room or clubhouse at a timeshare resort in town. While not close to town center, it's at worst only a mile making it closer than any other resort. My pick to stay at in spring/fall. A former (RID)Silver crown resort. Friendly staff. Only dual-affiliated resort (II) in town. *Sandcastle: This is my all-round favorite: It's old, it's funky, but it has the look/feel of authentic "olde Cape Cod". Only the units in the Dunes building (connecting to the indoor pool) have A/C. The waterviews from the Royal Coachman are superb if you're randomly lucky enough to confirm one. This place has the friendliwest staff and hardest workers I've met/seen anywhere. Very friendly for families and all (but don't bring pets!) The indoor pool is normally open anytime the resort is (March-November). Outdoor pool opens in mid-June but only warm enough to use in July-early September. Furthest from town but right on the beach and on the summer bus shuttle line. Never accept a studio for 2/2- it's only a motel room. Most units here are studios for 2/4. A winner of resort of Hospitality award in the award's premier year, and most deservedly so. Trade wise, all these resorts are like dynamite...and I've purchased accordingly! They're now all but sold out with the exception of a few resales. Feel free to Email me if you have any specific questions. Brian
