Peppertree-Equivest

There are small amounts of info about these TS and their take over by Fairfield here on TUG.

Can anyone tell me the story?

What would you like to know? If you are interested in purchasing, you should know that the Equivest Vacation and Travel Club has some of the highest fees and is losing members.

Are Peppertree and Equivest the same company?

Equivest was bought by FF but not intergrated into FF, Right?

Are they a point based or fixed week TSs?

TIA

I love peppertree (fixed week), does not convert to points, etc.

FF manages, but for fixed weeks, it acts like a stand-alone week. No internal FF trading, points, etc. My resort pepperteee atlantic beach has its own HOA, etc.
As I see TONS of equivest points for sale--so I wonder. WE bought to use and have no use for Equivest (didn't even know it existed).
I will be at peppertree next week and will do a bit of asking around to see who has equivest points--are they happy--do they get good trades, etc. for you
please PM me in a week or two---b/c I might forget to post back.

The Peppertree/Equivest points system is an orphan system with rising fees and declining membership. They are shedding inventory as they shed members, with no new sales coming in.

I own points in the Equivest Vacaion and Travel Club. Equivest is both deeded weeks and points. I do not recommend purchasing points, because, as mentioned above, fees have doubled and membersip has declined 25% since Fairfield purchased Equivest a few years ago. While Fairfield manages many of the former Equivest resorts, with limited exceptions, they have not integrated Equivest resorts into Fairfield. I have been told that they are not going to integrate EVTC into Fairfield. As a result, EVTC is a step child of Fairfield and is treated as such. Fairfield has allowed EVTC to go into the red financially. I assume it will die a slow death as it sheds members.

Peppertree was a predecessor to Equivest. Peppertree and a couple of other resort systems merged to create Equivest. Peppertree started the points club at resorts where they had already sold deeded weeks. It is mostly former Peppertree resorts that make up EVTC. Many resellers incorrectly advertise that all former Equivest resorts are available through the Club.

There are two types of EVTC memberships. New members own points only, and the intervals are owned by a trust controlled by Fairfield. Charter members converted a deed week to points. There are procedures for terminating a Charter membership. Even though there are about 14 resorts in EVTC, 4 to 5 of those resorts represent most of the intervals in the Club. Atlantic Beach probably has most intervals in EVTC.

E-mail me if you would like additional info.
