We just received 2X$350 vouchers to pasafy us on some problems we encountered on a trip for 4 of us to Florida from California and back. When I told my brother (a constant flyer) about this he said that's great but good luck in getting the vouchers honored with AA. He has a $50 voucher with Southwest and he said he'd rather have it because at least it could be used.
He also claims that he knows nobody that has ever been able to use a voucher from AA because of all the restrictions they put on them. Does anyone know anything about AA vouchers or had any luck either way with them? Bart

As far as I know, there are really no restrictions on AA vouchers. They are just like cash. You can even use them online when booking tickets. You have to put the ticket on hold and then call AA.com. They will note the record and tell you where to send the vouchers.

We've never had any problems using AA vouchers. Like Pat said, find the tickets you want and then put them on hold. Call AA at the given number that shows on the vouchers and they'll instruct you from there. It was not complicated at all.
Enjoy!

The AA vouchers are very easy to use and not subject to any capacity controls. Furthermore, if the ticket you intend to buy costs less than the value of the voucher, AA will issue a new voucher for the difference. It is almost like having cash on hand.

I had no problems using vouchers. They hold the flight you want and you mail the vouchers in (which made me nervous since it's really like mailing cash) and they sent me a voucher for the left over balance which was good for another year not even a travel withing the year just purchase. Our bump in Hawaii for Spring Break paid for our next two spring break airline tickets. We only had to add $35.

Thank You
Thank you everyone for your information. I will inform my brother for the future and we will have a nice flight somewhere.
