So Far So Good
SIL has BIG 6-0 birthday party in Las Vegas right in the middle of our Hawaii vacation. Of course we can't miss this, so was looking at LV packages from Kona. Best I could do with my cursory search was ~$1200 rt + 2 nights hotel for 2. My SIL called and said they had a 2 bdrm suite at the Mandalay Bay booked and we could stay with them.
Then - brain storm - I received over 12,000 ff miles on American with my "girls" trip to Europe in April. Looked at my balance; looked at my husband's balance; did some transfering of miles and viola!!! We have rt air for ~$200. I've booked my seats, but, my husbands miles won't post for ~7 days. Here's hoping seats are still available for the same flights. I looked at the seating and all flights still appeared to be wide open. Keep your fingers crossed for us ![]() Last edited by JanB : August 6, 2006 at 10:00 PM. |

Steve's ff points posted to his account this morning. We now have 2 ff rt tickets on American KOA-LAS for $200 total. A very far cry from the $1200 + we were looking at a few weeks ago.
Thanks everyone! |

Can you transfer miles between accts to get enough to get a FF ticket? Is this limited to spouses and family members?? How much do they charge and is there a min or max miles allowed? Joyce |

Joyce - Yes, you can transfer between accounts. The receiver does not have to be a spouse or family member. In our case, American's policy allows you to transfer up to 60,000 miles and receive up to 15,000 miles per calendar year. The cost is based on the number of miles transferred. In our case, 12,000 miles was transferred at a cost of $150 plus a flat $30 administrative fee. In addition, our ff tickets cost $10 each to purchase.
Each airline has their own policy, so be sure to check. I found the information on-line under their frequent flyer tab. |
