We just returned from a fabulous week at MGO (July 30 - August 6) in spite of the oppressive heat and humidity. (The heat index reached 112 degrees!)
I attended the Owners' Forum last Monday and picked up these tidbits to pass own. My apologies if any of this is old news!
1. In October, the Board will be voting on a special assessment of $250 - $300 for 2007. The assessment is primarily due to rising costs of the 10-year refurbishment. The project, originally budgeted at $27,000 per unit, is now up to $42,000 per unit.
The assessment is projected to put us in a solid financial position for the next 10 years.
2. The 10-year refurbishment will be completed in Winter 2006. All units on the North side of the resort are done. According to information from last year's Owner's Forum, refurbishments on two South buildings was delayed to take advantage of quantity discounts, but all will be completed by Summer 2007.
3. MGO experimented with wristbands over July 4 week to identify MGO guests and is considering implementing some type of program to identify its guests from someone wandering in off the beach using the facilities.
They are also looking at other improvements in Loss Prevention and Security.
4. Bicycle rental companies are no longer permitted to drop-off / pick-up on property. Apparently, numerous bicycles from various rental companies were found at the home of a bicycle rental company employee last year prompting Loss Prevention to implement the policy. MGO has installed a bike rack across the street (in front of Van der Meer) for use by rental companies.
5. As always, still numerous complaints about reservation availability, saving lounge chairs around the pool, etc.
Unfortunately, I could only stay for the first 100 minutes of the meeting due to a prior commitment on the beach, so there may be more that I missed!
