We will be checking into the Charter Club on Marco Island on Sept 15. Hopefully no HURRICANES! We have never been to this area before, and I was wondering if anyone knows of good, not too expensive restaurants in the area. It will be our first vacation alone, since both of our kids are in college now, so we are up for any kind of food.

Thanks.

We liked Snook Inn. It's right on the water/river and usually you get to see Dolphins swimming up and down the river. It's been awhile, but they still advertise on TV in Ft. Myers.

Snooks was Great

We were there in January and went to Snooks twice. Once by car and once by boat.

We had a lunch at Snooks, and stumbled into Marco Resort and Club next door. We never woulda seen it had we not eaten at Snooks.

Off topic, but the busiest business we experienced on Marco was the thrift shop located in the general vicinity of Snooks and the Marina.

We did a lot of cooking, BBQ and seafood (Stone Crab, Shrimp and Fish). Stone crab will probably not be in season yet.

When we go to Florida we just love Publix grocery stores. The bakery and breads are excellent. We don't care for Winn Dixie.

Have fun.

Snook Inn is great ~~ Here are a couple more recommendations ~~

Little Bar Restaurant ~~ Goodland

Sand Bar

Kretch's

Konrads Steak & Seafood Grill

Blackwater Nicks ~~ Isle of Capri

Breakfast Plus ~~ Best place on the Island for the mornin start ~~

Joey's Pizza

Olde Marco Inn ~~ Expensive but good food ~~

All of these locations are easy to find ~~

:ignore:

Thanks everyone! Sounds like Snooks is a must do.

If we would grill seafood, are there local seafood markets, or is it best to just go to Publix?

Pelican Bend

We recommend the Pelican Bend on the Isle of Capri (go over the Bridge, take a left at the light). They have great Grouper!

Are there any shrimping boats in the area, where you can buy shrimp direct when they come in with their catch?

Charter Club has a restaurant book in the lounge next to check-in with menus for almost all the restaurants on Marco as well as Little Bar. Little Bar is my choice for non-fried (I find Snook is heavy on fried for what I like) seafood. Their soft shell crabs are wonderful! Friends of ours go to Pelican Bend as well as they love Grouper. I've never been as they told me NOT to go unless I was getting Grouper. Linda

We have been to both Isle of Capri and the fresh fish shops in Everglades City, and prefer Everglades City. Here's a business card sitting in front of me for City Seafood, 702 Begonia Street, 941-695-4700.

The specialty is stone crab claws, in season, but we have also gotten shrimp and fish there. I don't recommend their fried shrimp, but the steamed is great.

Or you can take it home and fix it yourself. Skewer some shrimp and put it on the BBQ.

Some folks eat stone crab cold and dip it in mustard sauce. We boil ours in crab boil and dip it in drawn butter. We normally boil a few shrimp, too. Add a salad, baquette bread form Publix, and a beverage.

I know I shop at Publix but has anyone tried Sweetbay ~~ I know its a little more expensive but they got some good pickens in their stores ~~ The store here in Bonita is huge ~~ Takes me awhile to go thru it ~~ :whoopie:

Grouper is the only way to go at Pelican Bend or at Snooks/Little Bar ~~

Charter Club

We are at Charter Club this Week(Labor Day). Do not get pizza at 5 Brothers, unless you want to drink a lot of water after eating it. It did taste good, but they must of used a LOT of garlic salt to season it. We ate at Snook Inn. The service was good and the grouper sandwich was good. In Everglades City, we ate at the Seafood Depot for lunch-
salad bar & boiled shrimp, all you can, for $7.95. Not sure, if it was a daily special or if it is served everyday.

Restaurant in Marco Island

We had dinner at Capt.Brian's Seafood and Raw Bar. It's across the street from the Charter Club.
It is not expensive and the food is great. Mostly seafood.
You can call ahead. Don't get dressed up. Shorts any time day or night. You will love it.
