I have an AC that I would like to use during President's week. I have 3 kids - DD8, DD5 and DS5. I'm looking into Williamsburg since it's not too a bad a drive and it'll be "warmer" than driving up north. Is there enough to do there for a week? As long as there's an indoor pool I don't think it'll be too big a deal if there's nothing else to do. Is there some other place(s) I should consider?

The AC said I can't use it for my home resort and any resort under the same company plus a list of others. I got the AC with a Marriott. When I search with the AC, Marriotts do show up. I'm tempted to try and get a Marriott with the AC - will it allow me to? If not, then which other resort(s) are recommended?

Thanks for all your help!

We spent a recent March Spring Break in Williamsburg and I'm not sure I'd do it again. The weather was marginal and Busch Gardens was only open on weekends.

I would not do it

I have the same age kids and wllmbg that time of year is yucky. It WILL be cold, and maybe icy, snowy, etc. Most of wllmbg is outdoors--so walking around historical stuff could be miserable.

We live near wllmbg and we don't even go that time of year. Plus, BG will be closed.

Good advice from all on the Williamsburg scene in February.

I would suggest that you look in the Poconos for skiing and sledding. There is a lot to do there in the winter and there are good indoor pools at some resorts. If you don't mind driving a long way or flying, go to Florida. Orlando is easy to get in February and will be warm.

As for the restriction on your resort. It is only your home resort, not all of Marriott. Even though it says something that would let you believe Marriotts would be restricted, it won't be the case.

Some holidays excluded

AC sometimes do not allow some holidays for useage. I don't remember if Pres day is one of them but you should check before you get to far into planning.

I don't think Pres. week is usually restricted. I have an AC right now good through next July, and the only date restriction is "certificate not valid for 29 March to 09 April travel dates," so apparently Easter is the only restrcition. However as each AC is different you should certainly check.

The only holidays that I'm aware are restriced are the week of Christmas and the week before and after Easter Sunday.

mine is not restricted during Xmas week - in fact I can see lots of availability that week - though not in places I want to go - like Williamsburg and Hilton head, for example.

thanks for all the replies!

the AC I have restricts travel during easter only...

Big Matt: the following appears under the statement that says the certificate can't be used to travel to the home resort:

This certificate may not be used to travel to any other resort under common ownership or management with the Home Resort.

I took that to mean that I can't use it for any other Marriott but if you think I can then it'll be great!!!

I would consider Orlando except we'll be there during easter break...I'm thinking maybe we'll go to HHI...we've been there during the summer but haven't really checked out the place since the kids only wanted to go to the beach and pool every day...this will give us a chance to shop and check out the sights!

Thanks again for all your help...

HHI may not be warm either. We have the same problem with our Spring break every year. We are sort of tired of Florida, and where else can you go in the East and be guaranteed to be warm? We are considering just staying home this year unless something really interesting comes up.

Thought about trying out Tybrisa on Tybee Island. Anybody been there lately?
