We have a two bedroom unit reserved for Sept. 30 through Oct. 7. We have been to Hilton Head before but have never stayed in this resort. Can anyone tell me about this resort.......clean?, location?, staff? Thanks!

We stayed at the Cottages in Shipyard about 4 years ago. I enjoyed the location and the unit. I would not hesitate to go back.

It is in Shipyard on a quiet rode, beautifully landscaped. Unit was in good shape. We had a 2 bedroom. Our 2 bedroom was one floor on the end of the unit. Three bedroom units I believe are 2 floors. There is a front and back porch and ours was on the golf course. Lagoon on side of the unit. There is a small pool at the Cottages. There is another Spinaker resort with pool and small game room close.

There are not alot of amenities. Ocean is a few miles and not real convenient. We always rent bikes at HHI. Shipyard bikepaths are wonderful. It should be a quiet location and a nice unit.

We'll be there 10/28!

I'll be interested to see what other responses come in for this resort. We've also been to HHI and can't wait to return. We've stayed at the resort next to these units and the pool was adequate, the hot tub at the time was small and VERY hot and the two bedroom unit was great. But, haven't been there now for about 5 years. We have a 3 bedroom unit and are bringing guests along. There's another thread that I looked at yesterday with tons of info on places to dine. We're just hoping that the weather is in the 70's and nice enough to be outdoors instead of snuggled around a fire!

Cottages at

We stayed in both a 2 bedroom & a 3 bedroom . I believe the 3 bedroom cottages are the same size as the 2 bedroom. The rooms on the first floor are smaller to make room fo the 3rd bedroom

Should we request a 2 Bedroom?

Though we have confirmed at 3 bedroom unit, we really don't need the third bedroom. Since I traded a week through RCI I'm wondering if once we arrive at check-in if I'd be able to request a 2 bedroom unit instead of a 3. I'd prefer the larger common areas instead of a third bedroom squeezed into the same square footage. Any way to confirm that the s.f. is the same as the 2 bedroom? Maybe if I called the resort and requested a change they'd accommodate me. Afterall, it's not high season and I'd suspect they have units available. I probably won't be able to make any changes with RCI at this late date.

I will certainly call the resort to see if it’s possible to change from a 3 to a 2 bedroom unit. In Sept., I would think there would be vacant units. Yesterday, I confirmed a unit at Royal Dunes on Port Royal Plantation for next week. We stayed there in Sept. of last year and really enjoyed it. The unit was very roomy & I really liked the location(mid island). The units at RD all have high speed internet (free) now. That is a plus, because I have a laptop I like to take on vacation. We were in Key West & Marco Island within the last month and they both were in the process of having high speed access put in all the units, but there will be a daily/weekly charge. I like free better, but I don’t mind paying a reasonable weekly charge for high speed. I like to grocery shop at Harris Teeter & Bi-Lo on Hilton Head, because they double coupons. I have been couponing for 30 years. Living in the land of NO doubles (Florida), it’s a treat to shop these stores and find some good deals. Only a fellow couponer would understand. LOL! We also go to the Bargain Box near the Presbyterian Church on Hwy. 278 and the Hospice Thrift Shop near Sam’s Club. Call first to find out days & hours they are open. If you should decide to go to the Bargain Box, go a half hour early and pick up a ticket. They only allow 100 people in at one time, because of fire regulations. We have a mini van and it is always fuller when we leave than when we arrived. I always check www.restaurant.com The Upper Crust in Bluffton is on the list. Very reasonable and the food is great and portions are generous. I often think it would be nice to live on HH, but then I wouldn’t have the thrill of vacationing there. Living there is not quite the same, as visiting. We do try to visit 3-4 times a year. We have 2 fixed weeks, 1 floating week and 1 points week. We bought the points week about 2 years ago and having points has really allowed us to have more additional weeks each year. These weeks are within the next 45 days(cancellations or not used by owners). You pay $164 + 7500-9000 points. Summer time is not the time to really enjoy HH, because of the heat, humidity and the crowds. Being retired, we are able to go whenever and in the nicer times of the year. Sorry, I probably told you lots more than you want to know. Do enjoy your week!
