I have heard a lot of people mention Worldmark. What is it? How do I find out more about it? Why is it better than other companies? Is there one Worldmark better to buy than another?

Hi,

Worldmark is a points based timeshare system....you don't own one specific week or one resort, you can travel to all the resorts the program has.

There are several forums you can access to gather information, some aren't as accurate with the information as others but all will give you information.

The official forum with resort pictures, Q&A, large owner base that participates is www.worldmarktheclub.com. You will find that incorrect information at this site is corrected (or edited out) by a forum host. The other forums do contain good information, also some is speculation and some a lot of misinformation. You can also search for information here on TUG....there are many owners that here that have posted information on the topic.

READ,READ,READ is the name of the game. You will then be able to decide what is spin and what isn't and decide if this is for you.

Good luck.

Have you been to the Worldmark website EASILY found in a Google search. There you will find the Owner's Education Handbook, read it and then ask questions. Have you searched on the word Worldmark???

Chat with real owners and learn

THE best place to learn about WM is at www.wmowners.com – about 2,500 WM owners chat there on a regular basis. This web site had NO connection to the “Official” version at http://forums.trendwest.com/ubb-threads/ubbthreads.php

The last web site is the "official" web site and is bought and paid for by the developer TrendWest. I don’t recommend the “Official” web site since the developer censors all threads and posts and only topics that benefit the developer, TW, are allowed. Subjects like Resales are verboten and you will be admonished for bringing up topics that TW doesn’t want WM owners to know about.

So visit www.wmowners.com and get uncensored truth about WM – get hints that the developer doesn’t want you to know, learn how to exploit the WM system in ways that has the developer banging it’s collective head against the wall.

WM is a great timeshare to own and it allows you to do things most timeshare owners can’t even dream about.

The other references listed above are a great resource – live WM owners who use the timeshare all the time are the best source of information.

TUG is also a great resource - no developer censoring your thoughts to worry about - ask and get honest answers without the developers spin to cloud reality.

Good luck,

This article on the TUG advice page is a good place to start for a (non-overwhelming) intro. to World Mark - http://www.tug2.net/advice/worldmark.htm

(The ADVICE link is in the red bar at the top of the pages on TUG. Lots of other good articles there too for a introduction to timesharing.)

The owner's forum at the Trendwest site provides a wealth of information that is directly from owners.

Jan

The Coffee Shop section on the official TrendWest site is only open to owners so if you are not an owner and are only looking for information that section is not open to you. TrendWest censors this section but does allow a little more open discussion between owners. They don’t allow any mention of resales but do let a little criticism of TrendWest get by. Like I said if you aren’t an owner you can’t see the owners section.

TrendWest censors the part open to the general public pretty heavily. Don’t even mention the word RESALE on the official site unless you don’t mind getting into trouble. There is a lot of good information on the site, but just remember you only get to read what TrendWest wants to let you read. It is mainly a sales tool for TrendWest in my opinion.

On WMOWNERS.COM you get the good, bad, ugly. It is more like the give and take on TUG and sometime some people do get carried away. I prefer the give and take on WMOWNERS.COM to the sanitized and censored official site.

I checked out that old TUG page and it said that WorldMark owners can transfer into some Fairfield resorts without fees. Is this still true?

Also with worldmark can you own every other year or do you have to pay your dues and get your points every year?
