Does anyone recall where this unit is located on the grounds, particularly did I land a good oceanview? It's a Christmas '07 vacation, long time away away. I've stayed there before a few years back and can't recall the building locations; some building were further away from the ocean-view as I reall than others. I'm simply curious and I'd appreciate anyone's time to reply-back. Thank you.

We've stayed at the Samoset several times. I'm not sure, but my thought is that you will be on the ground level, and I think all units have an ocean view.
I'll be following your replies...and hope you have a great vacation in my native state!

All of the ts buildings are next to each other and have pretty much the same oceanview. The top floor, which we stayed on is probably a bit better than the bottom floor, but all views should be decent, especially that time of year. I may still have the map somewhere at home - I'll look tonight.

I am not at home but have stayed there 2x... two different 2BR... let me look it up but somehow I think if its a 2BR, it might be the one with 2 floors... all have great views of Penobscot Bay and the lighthouse, golf course.. give me some time and I will look up my stuff for you.. also email Vivian, tug member and owner at Samoset.. she is always very helpful !

sent you a message with more info

hi, sent you a PM so check it out on Samoset... info that I had gotten in the past... also try Prisms restaurant and eat at the hotel... nice comfy restaurant.. not the fancy one but the more casual.. good specials and good portions. Also, the numbers are different on the RCI exchange vs the resort so you might have one of the units I stayed in. I spoke to the office directly so I could find out which no# I was in. Is it 1 or 2 BR ??

It's a one bedroom

Thanks for the info; it's a one bedroom unit. This will be our third visit; had a 2 bdrm 1x and a 1 bdrm the other. I recall each timeshare building is set slightly further than the one to it's right (facing from the ocean). I will take the tip on Prisms and resort restaurant too thanks, haven't eaten in either yet. Where is Prisms located please? I didn't realize the Samoset room assignment and the RCI confirmation assignment would be different so I appreciate that tip, I will call the office as you suggested and see if there is an actual room assignment for us. I'd rather have a "higher" unit but our priority really was just to exchange into the Samoset. Nerodog; How can I reach Vivien? Connie; we love Maine; and it's a beautiful trip up from Massachusetts in the wintertime, the small back roads take us through towns that are all lit up for the holiday season; very magical. The Samoset is a great resort; even in the winter time.

Hi, the "D" units are the last building where I stayed... however, each bldg has 1BR so you could be in any of the three but my hunch is "A" might be the first one nearer to the hotel section. Your best bet is to call and if you have request for a higher floor than request it and they can put a note next to your reservation... depends if the owner is staying or exchanging... I stayed on the 3rd floor and once on the first floor. Liked them both and had fabulous views... Prisms is on the right hand side of the road into Rockport....nice gallery of blown glass and great food. It is a purple bldg. ALso right near there is a great pastry shop, homemade goods and I cant remember the name but its on the corner and its a green bldg. I will get it for you when I am home. Try Private messaging Vivian... she is a TUG member so you should be able to access her that way... that is what I did. Hope this helps...on your way up to Maine why not stop at Stonewall Kitchens in York, right off of 95, great break, restaurant and lots of goods to buy !!

Once a unit is traded into RCI, I thought you are stuck with that unit. Has anyone had a postive experience getting a better or larger unit than the one indicated on the RCI confirmation. If so, what do I do to try to accomplish tihs? Our trade is not until mid summer 2007 so maybe I have a chance?

We just returned from Samoset and had a wonderful time. I have a map and it is confusing since the numbers on the RCI confirmation do not match the room numbers. Based on our reservation saying 2 and we were in building 2, 3should be building three. Unit A-1 is listed on the map for all three buildings. This unit is a one bedroom first floor toward the hotel and at the back of the building, so not the units closest to the ocean. I believe the unit number will be 804 for 3 A-1. All the units had some "ocean" view, although this is not the ocean.

We found that they had fireworks on Saturday night. It was not listed anywhere as an event. What a pleasant surprise.

Enjoy your stay.

First of all I managed to dig out the maps fom our exchange a few years ago, and Shar is correct - 3A-1 is unit 804, on the first floor of Building 3. It is one of the smaller 1 bedroom units.

When we exchanged in through RCI a few years back (in August) we did not get the unit assigned which was to be on the second floor, but rather a unit on the third floor, which was wonderful mainly because there was no noise from anyone above us. The view was also a bit better than from the floors below. The size was still ther same, though. We did not call and ask for a particular unit - this was just a change made by them. You can always call and ask a few weeks before check-in. There are only 12 B units (the larger 1 bedroom) compared to 49 A units (slightly smaller 1BR), 6 C units (2BR loft units), and 5 D units (2BRs on one floor) so I don't know what the chances are of getting something bigger/better. If you have a mid-summer exchange you should consider yourself lucky to have it at all!
