How flexible is Marriott?

I like the idea of how flexible WorldMark is and I was wondering if Marriott is as flexible. I mean like checking in on a Thursday and only using partial weeks.

Unless you are renting or using Rewards Points you do not have that flexibility with Marriott. Almost all of the newer resorts allow the floating check-in day (e.g. Fri-Sun).

I do know that Ford's Colony allows you to split your week in two. I have never heard or any of the others doing this.

They let you split your "week" into a 1 bedroom and an efficiency. You cannot use part of the week one time and another part another time. You can use your 1 bedroom one week and the efficiency another week. But you cannot use half of one week and another half of the week at some other time.

Actually, many Marriott resorts allow you to use part of your week at one time and the other part another time with a "split-week" option. From the MVCI site:
This option enables you to create two ‘mini-vacations’ in the full villa at your home resort for each week owned. Owners may request one three-night weekend stay and one four-night weekday stay at another time within the same year during the season you purchased. Please note that the Split-Week and Lock-Off options cannot be combined. All reservations will be made and confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis, based on space availability.
The only other Marriott flex reservations I know of are at Custom House, where you can book individual night stays during the week – but, as above, only one weekend stay.

Responding to the OP's question in another way, with the exceptions noted, you must reserve a full week at a time, even if you choose to stay less than a full week.

Note that you cannot split your unit into the master and lock-off sides for separate use and split one of those weeks into Mon-Thurs and Fri-Sun stays.

Unless you are using the split-week option, your only available check-in dates for your week are Friday, Saturday or Sunday (with a Thursday option at one resort).

You are correct, Ken. That prohibition is included in the quoted text in my post. A split-week must be for the "full villa".

When we toured the Ocean Dunes at Myrtle Beach we were told they have the split week option

Are you saying that if I do getaway for check-in on Saturday, but don't actually check-in until Tuesday... that is not allowed. I plan to call the resort and tell them what date we will check in.

If your week reserved was Sat-Sat and you check in on Tuesday you must be out by Saturday. Yes you can check in later, but you must be out by your original end date. You should tell the resort what day you will be checking in so they can be assured of having your unit ready for you.

Chris,
Thanks for input on checking in late. We will only use the timeshare Tuesday-Friday.

I split my week at MMC (Manor Club) a few years back. I had it for 3 nights and my friends had it for the remaining 4 nights at another time.
