Like Food and liquor? I don't want to get stuff confiscated. We usually take some stuff with us. My daughter in law went to Cancun this summer and she said the person in front of her had canned meat and peanut butter crackers taken from them. I wouldn't have thought those would have been a probelm.
thanks for any info!

Plenty of cerveza and Tequila already in Mexico. Take spare swim suit.
My wife used to take cuervo mix in the ice chest. It broke once no more

You can buy whatever you want there. Often for less than you would pay at home.

The only thing I have trouble finding is good butter. Since I can't read Spanish we always end up with very poor tasting margarine or foul tasting butter.

Cheese is also always a bit hit and miss with us but I think its more the fact that we just haven't found the good stuff yet.

It would really help if we could read Spanish.

Good Luck

Because we want to bring back frozen fish from our fishing trips to Cabo and Mazatlan we always take our cooler on wheels. So we pack it with things we will eat while there. For example: cereal, crackers, 6 pack of bottled water(to get started) microwave popcorn, can of spaghetti sauce, spaghetti, peanuts, freezer ziplock bags(some 2 gal.for fish),coffee, filters, dry creamer, sugar, peanut butter, small fruit cups, etc. You get the idea. I know some of it you can buy easily and just as cheap but as long as we have the cooler we just as well pack some of the snack stuff we will use then we do not have to get as much at the store. When we get to our resort we get more water in gallons and refill our small bottles to take with us to the pool etc.
If I leave enough room we can put our lightweight jackets from cold weather in when we get to the airport. We take a shuttle from our hotel or park and fly so get by with a med.wt. jacket. If we do not take the cooler I just take coffee, filters and creamer. If we do not get fish we can always put other stuff in in coming home.

The only thing you can't take is beef and fruit. You can take take other meats as long as they are labeled and in original packages. But sometimes you are at the mercy of the customs person.

I would love to take the my favorite peanut butter!

I would love to take organic peanut butter to Mexico next month, but with the new restrictions I doubt if it would even make it there. :(
At home we eat mostly organic foods and especially love our organic peanut butter. We don't eat any other kind.
Unfortunately, we won't bring it with us because of the restrictions and uncertaintly.

As long as you pack it in a suitcase or box there is no problem taking it. We always pack peanut butter! We take a hardside suitcase every year full of canned chili, peanut butter, grape jelly, koolaide, mac & cheese, etc. and never have any problems.

Fresh fruits, vegetables and beef are definite no-nos. As previously stated, you are at the mercy of the customs inspector should you get the red light at customs. I've only been hit once and I got through-even though I had more cigars and tobacco than were allowed (without duty). My wife did not get the red light and things were split in our luggage, so the over the limit didn't show. You can get just about anything there, but some brands of cigarettes/cigars are just not available. I would imagine that it would not be a good idea to argue too much about anything that was confiscated.

We normally take coffee, coffee filters, sweetners, powdered creamer, some sugar packs, mac & cheese, tuna in the flat packs- small peanut butter- cerial, small peanut packs, and some small individual snack packs-- just to get going the first day- so we don't have to hit the grocery store after the flight if we don't want to. Most resorts we have stayed at have a small sundry type store that has milk- or there is one within walking distance-- The resort areas have wonderful stores, and just about everything we can get here. all is in the suitcase and have never had any trouble.
