I can use some suggestions at to when to visit Williamsburg.

I was hoping to avoid the huge crowds, heat and humidity of the summer months. Yet I do want to go when I can get to Busch Gardens as well as Water Country.

I had read a post by someone who said around Easter is a great time to go so I was aiming for Easter. But now I have booked a trip to Orlando in April of 2007 plus a trip to the Grand Caymans in March of 2008. So that effectively eliminates Easter for me.

How about Labor Day? Or ??? should I just suck it up and go in the summer? As of right now, I am open after April of 2007 until March of 2008.

Week of Labor

We went a few years ago Labor Day week. After Labor Day Busch Gardens was still open with no crowds at all. Also not many school kids in Williamsburg because schools had just started. That's when I'd go.

Are you looking to visit for a weekend or a week? Do you have kids in school? BG and WCUSA are both open weekends in the spring and fall, which are nices times to visit. It's usually not as hot and crowded since most parents are not pulling their kids out of school for vacation. 2007 will be a busy year in Williamsburg with the 400th anniversary of Jamestown. BG usually opens for weekends only in late March, and WC for weekends only sometime in May. The pools are heated so it's fine if we're having a cooler day. Both parks open for the week after Memorial Day weekend. WCUSA usually stays open until Labor Day weekend, and maybe one weekend after. BG is open all week long through Labor Day weekend, then they switch to Friday, Saturday, Sunday through the last weekend in October, for HallowScream.

We were just saying today that with all of the new attractions and shopping, Williamsburg is becoming a year 'round destination...which we noticed when we could not find a parking space at Prime Outlets this morning.

Feel free to email me with questions about the area- jsmartypants@cox.net

Water Country closes before Busch Gardens. Check their schedules. I'd try for the week after labor day.

I would vote for the first week of June. Kids aren't swarming the parks yet. The weather will be warm, but not real humid yet. Both parks will be open. Easter is definitely not the time to go because WCUSA isn't open yet. After Labor day, the parks are only open on weekends or not at all. If you don't care so much that WCUSA is open, I would pick October. BG is only open weekends, but it is Halloween themed and the weather is awesome.

Remember that summer is not over until late September. Labor day can still be hot and humid.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Yes, I was looking for a full week exchange.

I had originally booked an exchange for the first week of June for this year, btw. But due to family situations, I had to cancel. So that was a definite contender.

I can't do in the first part of June next year because I have to wait 3 months between trips to build up another week of vacation. I need more vacation time!!

Oct. definitely has appeal though. I would prefer to have both of them open, but of the two, BG is the most important to me. I will definitely check into that idea.

Thanks again!

Cindi,

October is a beautiful time to visit, but keep in mind that BG is only open Fri, Sat, and Sun.

Well, that is the other issue of going off season. BG is only open on weekends and I expect I won't even check in until late Sat. So that would only leave one day.

OTOH, there appears to be so much to do there that maybe only one day is plenty.

I am still liking the idea of Oct. as the best choice right now.

Cindi,
BG is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So you could catch the next Friday at least.

We were lucky to get a thurs. check in day so we'll have the weekend and probably come home a couple of days early.

Where are you staying with a Thursday check in day?

And can you say duh??!! :wall: I forgot about being able to go back on Friday before we would head back home on a Sat.

We have a Thurs check-in at the cottages of King's Creek on April 12. This is the 1st Thurs we have ever experienced but it works good for us.

I had my heart set on the Marriott Manor Club for our very first trip, but the idea of getting a Thursday checkin is strongly appealing.

And from what I remember, Kings Creek is a very nice timeshare as well. Hmmm. More food for thought now.

We have been to Williamsburg the first week in April (chilly) and the last week in September. There were not crowds. It was wonderful. I could visit Williamsburg 1x a year.

I don't like chilly.......so maybe that lets out april for sure.

I really am thinking Oct will fill the bill fairly well. Heck, maybe we will enjoy ourselves so much that we want to go back again and can check out other times.

Cindi,
I lived in Williamsburg for 25 years and still have family there. The best weather months without a doubt are October and May.

I live in VA now we like to travel to Williamsburg in April, May, the first two weeks in June, October and November. Less people and the temperatures are very pleasants during these months.

We like the following timeshare in the area the Manor Club, King Creeks Cottages and Greensprings Plantation.

Late June, July, August and September can be very hot and humd in the Colonial Williamsburg.

Enjoy your week!

Thanks for the info. Those seem to be the top 3 timeshares in the area.

I think for my first trip it will have to be Manor Club, though. Just got my heart set on checking it out. But if we enjoy it there, we can check out the others another time. :whoopie:
