Massanutten Unit Questions
Please help me choose a unit at Woodstone!
For the week I am interested in, I can get a 2 BR Partial with a Saturday check-in or a 2 BR FULL with a Sunday check-in. Is it true that the Partials are on the top floor and the FULLS are on the bottom? And, is it also true that it is preferable to be on the top floor because of the NOISE and the VIEW? Secondly, is it better to check in on Saturday in terms of signing up for activities? I thought I read that with a Sunday check in many activities are already full. (We are going at a busy time of year, July 4th.) I am very interested in the Washington DC tour - would hate to miss out on it. For what it's worth, I'm sure we could get by with the partial kitchen if the above statements are true. Any other reasons to consider one unit over the other? Thanks! Dawn |

Dawn,
The partial kitchen unit has a hot plate, a full size fridge and a gas grill(the full kitchen unit has no grill). As far as the view goes, the Woodstone units are at the base of the mountain so either floor is going to have about the same view. If the bus trip to DC is full, it is a very easy drive to Vienna(about 2 hours) to the Metro(subway) station, where you can park your car and see the city at your own pace. If you want to tour the White House be sure to contact your local congressman for tickets in advance. You can also get more resort info at www.massresort.com Have a great vacation! cindy |

We were at Woodstone a few years back, and yes, the partial kitchens are on the second floor, and the fulls on the first. (That's where we were, the views are great no matter where you are, and we never noticed any noise ~~ and yes, the place was pretty full.) As far as activities, sorry I can't help you there. You might want to contact the resort directly.

As stated in previous responses, the partials are upstairs and we found them to be quieter. The front and back balconies had nice views. The hot plate, grill, griddle(? - maybe I brought one?) didn't keep us from having full meals. The frig was full size and the rest of the kitchen was full size.
We were there 2 times last summer and it was busy. In the past we visited in the winter and there was alot going on but not like now. The do take reservations early for activities so the could fill up early. If you are sure you want to go a specific day, call the resort the week prior and ask if you can make "pre-reservations". Not sure if they will do this but it may be worth a try. Also the week park pass to the water park will keep you from trying to do 12 hours in one day (which is long and painful). It is more expensive ( a better deal if you would use the park more than once - I think) but makes using the park a less demanding experience. I think I read of several that were at Massanutten during July 4th last year - maybe they can post about some of the activities. Also the White House tour - we prescheduled with our representative and had to be there for the tour at 8:00 am. We stayed at FF Alexandria, which even though is relatively close, was a haul on a Monday morning by subway when we didn't exactly know where we were going (6 of us) and we were mixed in with the many people trying to get to work on time. We had to be 20 mins early for security. Hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy! |

Hello. We were just there in July and you shouldn't have a problem with the D.C. tour, even with a Sunday check in. As long as you sign up when you check in, you'll be fine. I was told that they order enough buses to accomodate the number of people who sign up. I'm sure they wait until after the Sunday check in to order the buses. The tour was great, even though you move through the sites very quickly. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Kim |

I actually prefer the upstairs unit because of the gas grill on the deck. Of course we have only gone in June or July. I probably would not enjoy the grill so much during a winter stay so I guess I would definately go for the downstairs that time of the year. Since you get your unit assignment early I believe all you have to do is call the resort and sign up for your choices on Sat. before you arrive on Sun. The activities are very limited on the weekend. I think this is so they have all available personel help turn the units. I think I downloaded the activity sheet early from their website the last time we went.

Woodstone's partial or full kitchen?
Both units are showing up for the week we would like. I am leaning towards partial because of the grill. In the summer, we would use it often. I really don't think we would even turn on the oven! Are there other differences? (other than stairs!!)

The washer/dryer is downstairs outside the front entrance of the lower unit. Both units share it. We stayed in July in the lower unit and it was great not having to go up and down the stairs. We never heard the people above us. Views are about the same.
