I know this isn't what you asked, but the location of the Paris Marriott right on the Champs Elysees is (IMO) hard to beat.

Hi,

I stayed at a nice one on the Left bank but it was a 2 star I am sure. It was called Hotel St.Jacques on Rue de Ecoles. It was also relatively inexpensive. My suggestion is to take a look at www.tripadvisor.com for ideas. They have GREAT reviews on hotels in Europe and even rank them by rating.

The Paris Hilton has, IMHO, one of the best locations, right by the Eiffel tower, beautiful esp. at night. I haven't been there for several years so things might have changed, but even though it is a Hilton I would equate it to a Day's Inn in the US.

My husband and I will be going to Paris for Thanksgiving weekend, and we will be staying at the Hotel Pont Royal on the Left Bank. It's a four star hotel, a historic landmark that was renovated around 2000 after being closed for eight years. We have not stayed there before, but it was recommended by our travel agent, and it has very good reviews.

This is a great location that we have stayed at several times. It's very close to Notre Dame. You can take the RER B train directly from CDG airport and walk to the hotel. It has gotten more expensive but is very nice.
