Question Using UA's EasyCheck-in Online...how to earn 500 miles per person?

So if we check in online, we get 500 bonus miles per person. Does this mean that I have to check us in one at a time, logging in with each person's number, or can I check us in all at once to still receive the credit?

Assuming you each have a MP# for each ticket and that you have 4 tickets, all you need to do is go on line and check them in. No need to sign on and off again.

Yes, we have MP #s for all four of us on one itinerary. So if that works, then I can check us all in at once and be done with it. For some reason, I was under the impression that I had to log in as each one of us separately and check in that way. Thanks for your help!

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't got any online check-in bonus miles from United for at least 6-7 months. I always check-in online whenever it's available.

I don't think I've gotten any either and I always check in on-line. Actually I don't even think I was aware there was a bonus. I know you're supposed to get a bonus when you book the flight on-line and now I'm not sure if I've been getting that either.

Edited to add:
I just checked my United account. It does look like I've been getting the 500 mile bonus each time I've checked in online. I then checked Steve's account and found that he is getting bonus miles as well, but the miles for his flights vary. I asked him if he uses the self service kiosk or an agent (since he's Premier many times he'll use an agent to check in) and he said it varies. Just shows how ignorant I am with how the whole bonus miles thing works.

This raises another question. Is the bonus for on-line check in only, or self-serve kiosk as well? And is there still a bonus if you purchase your tickets on-line?

No bonuses I know of on EasyChicken (the kiosk).

IME, postings have been variable and not always easily identified. As my wife nearly always travels on the same PNR as myself, with my MP# controlling, and I always check us in using OLCI, her bonuses have been even more variable.

As with nearly everything UA, YMMV...

check in

I seldom have a problem with OL check in and I use it all the time. Every once in a while my wife doesn't get credit when we check in together but when that happens i just contact customer service and it is corrected.

Just an update.

So I checked in 3 out of 4 of us using the EasyCheck-in feature online. I did as suggested and logged in as me and checked us all in.

However, I was looking at my Mileage Plus summary and I am the only one with a line item for the check-in bonus. I called Customer Service and Tiffany told me that I would have had to log out and log in for each member to get the bonus!

So that's a bummer . With us, every mile counts for a lot.

It doesn't say that specifically in the fine print, does it?

Same PNR, one bonus. Different PNR's, bonus for each check-in. Even if members check-in individually on the same PNR, often only one bonus will given, requiring a call. I don't even bother with check-in and online booking bonuses, if they don't post. It's just too time-consuming compared to other ways of earning/receiving the same miles.

With UA, very little is in the print you can read, as I'm sure you're finding out
