Vacation Guard Travel Insurance/SFX

I emailed Vacation Guard Travel Insurance about insuring an exchange made through SFX and I got an email back explaining that they are just about to launch a offer in conjunction with SFX and that SFX members will get a discount.

This is the yearly rate for 3 TS weeks:
13-31 day plan for $89, which is $20 off the retail rate

Denise,
One thing that makes me a little nervous about this policy is that you only get reimbursed IF your t/s trip cannot be rescheduled. Who decides whether or not it can be rescheduled? How reasonable will they be? Will you have to try and get other weeks from your t/s exchange company? The wording makes me a little nervous. Let us know what you find out. Otherwise the policy looks good.

Thanks loads,
Phil

Phil - that is an excellent question, and I am going to ask them how that works, because I'm very interested in getting this insurance. They also have a trip-by-trip upgrade that you can purchase that covers additional aspects of your trip that I am going to check out.

Vacationguard Timeshare Insurance

I purchased this coverage online from VacationGuard in July. Fortunately I haven't needed it to date. It is my understanding from reading the policy that I would be reimbursed for my maintenace dues/fess if I cancel my trip and cannot reschedule.

I got an answer back from Vanguard regarding canceling airline award reservations. They would pay the $100 cancellation/rescheduling fee that the airline charges, on a qualified claim. And in my case, I would get my award miles back from the airline.

Denise,
Did you find an answer to my questions above: "One thing that makes me a little nervous about this policy is that you only get reimbursed IF your t/s trip cannot be rescheduled. Who decides whether or not it can be rescheduled? How reasonable will they be? Will you have to try and get other weeks from your t/s exchange company?"

Phil - I didn't ask, but I have been getting prompt and courteous responses from a company executive. If you would like to email him, send me an email for his address.

Rescheduling - who decides?

I have been told that it is usually the timeshare/exchange company who works with the timeshare owner to reschedule so it seems to me it would be a case of whether there is a time and comparable trip available. So if there is not one available then it would be covered. Does this make sense?
