Just got news that our offer for Kauai Beach Club passed ROFR. We are so excited!!!!!! :whoopie: :D

So, here are a few questions that we have.

1- How soon can we join II? Does Marriott need to have verification of our ownership first?

2- Can we have Marriott assign a VOA even though this is resale? Are the VOA any help anyway?

Thanks everyone! All of your help has been wonderful and so awesome!

First you have to wait for the deed to be recorded which may take anywhere from 1-2 months. Then after Marriott receives your info from the closing company you will get a welcome packet from Marriott. After that you can join II and then after II verifies your ownership with the resort your II account will be active.

If I left anything out hopefully someone else will fill it in.

Yes, after your purchase is recorded on Marriott's records, you can call Owner Services to have a VOA assigned. Reviews here are mixed as to whether or not having an assigned VOA is worthwhile.

Any rep at Owner Services can provide the same service as a dedicated rep. Because of the many, many owners that each VOA handles, it's unlikely that an assigned VOA will remember the details of your likes and dislikes. He/she will look at the notes in your account as a refresher. Any rep can do that.

I see the VOA as someone to assist with how the system works...as far as I know, since they are not officially licensed as travel agents, you still need to book the flights, cruises, etc. on your own. Not sure about if they can book the Marriott hotels for you, though.

From my discussions with different VOAs over time, although every VOA I was very enthusiastic about helping and providing info, there are definitely some who seem more knowledgible than others. I hope to gain much knowledge from VOA - compliments the great info I am getting from this forum :)
